Lunar gauge cluster problems...

I got a cluster for free from my friend. He bought it for his car but never used it. I got everything swapped over and went to try it out and the tach and fuel gauge wont move. Everything else works fine. Im going to call Simco tomorrow since they manufactured them and see if they can repair it.

Is this a common problem with these clusters?

Gauges go bad like any other sensor, might be worth buying your own so the warranty is not in question. Faze makes some pretty nice El glow gauges, you can find the for cheap on the internet, that way if the gauges don't work, its not 70 bucks in the crapper, more like 20 bucks.
