Lowering My GT

whats the best way to go to lower my 2000 GT, i was going to order lowering springs, but had a friend of mine that has lowered several Mustangs, tell me if you cut one coil off all four springs, it gives a better ride than if you use lowering springs.

Well you can cut them but your friend doesn't seem to know things as far as I'm concerned. Yea you can cut the springs and get it to look similar but the ride quality will be less. You can't just cut the springs and have a lowered mustang, there are more components than just shorter springs.

The BEST way to get lower is:

Springs of choice
New shocks/struts
Caster/Camber plates

that is at a minimum as far as I am concerned. You can pass on the plates but it will make life much easier when it comes to the alignment you will also need after lowering the car.

Cutting springs is the poor mans way of lowering a car. A lot of ricer kids here do that.

Ride quality will be worse than with actual lowering springs, not better.

do it right the first time. or don't do, it at all.

if cash is an issue. then ebay and craigslist will always have grate deals. notting wrong with used stuff. except shocks & struts those i like NEW, springs cc,plates bump steer kit can be used,

You can cut the spring and lower it but it'll ride like crap. Get a set of quality springs, CC plates, and bumpsteer kit if you lower it more than an inch. Factory struts sill work in most cases.
Personally, I love lowered cars, but it has to be done right and not TOO low. My Cobra had a nice stance, but you couldn't even drive that damn thing out of a parking lot without scraping.

Thank you all for your input, for the record I would like to say I've worked in the tire/wheel and repair industry for 11 years now and understand everything you guys are saying, that's why when I had this friend say this I wanted more input! With your answers I will be ordering lowering spring and caster camber plates.
