New engine in that has 30k on it. New out of the box Comp Cams ll " 550 lift with 270 duration" New out of the box Comp Cam recommended springs, High Volume oil pump, and a new set of 16 Lash Adjusters , and new plugs .And a new Cluch and pressure plate with fly wheel re faced. Sound fricken Awesome :rlaugh: Untill i get up around 4 to 5k And my lash adjusters fail. But come right back when i let off it.. And No,, I have not lhad the money to but my Tuner yet.. Comp Cams sead that thay had not had any reports of lash adjuster problems with 550 lift with hydralic and say dont have to go solid untell you get to 600 plus lift.... What now .. give up and by chevy ??:D

What are the clearances in the motor? Rod bearing, Main bearing, thrust and rod side clearance? What weight oil are you running? What pick-up is being used? What was the pan to pickup clearance? What oil pressure do you see at idle, cold start and after its up to operating temp?

Ive been over .550 lift with no issues as well...

I used the pick up tube that came with the high volume pump. Used oil pan off the motor I pulled. All clarence and tolerences is what Ford set in the motor because I have not messed with them. Oil pressure is normal on factory guage. Using 5-30 Valoline oil.

Under heavy load mid to high rpm, it starts sputtering, the gear shift violently wobbles back and forth, and multiple knocks, tings, pings...whatever you want to call them coming from value train. It quickly subsides after a few moments running at low rpms. Now and then a soul lifter (lash adjuster) is slow to come back, and a lifter knock as we all know is a lifter knock. In my old engine it would easily and quickly happen under high rpm. And it would continue long enough to where I could get out and broom stick a value cover and confirm lifter knock. When I got the car several months ago it had Comcams stage 1, not sure of lifter duration. Could it be that the previous owner put the cams in and didn't have it tuned causing it to behave as it is and that's why they got rid of it? It's not been tuned yet since I've switched motors and it's running rich enough to burn your eyes. The only reason I know whats in the previous motor is because I've had it apart. The reason I say comcams stage one is because when pulled it would pull real hard. And after seeing the cams stage 1 & stock and comparing to my new stage 2 cams I can see 3 distinct differences which reminds me to go out and get the numbers off of the cams on the old motor just to double check what type they are.

Sounds like you need to have the car TUNED! Untill you get that done nobody will really be able to help you. A non tuned car with decent size cams can and generally do drop off in the higher rpms and will even make the whole car shutter bad. Hopefully you havent done any damage due to detonation.

If its rich, lean it out some. Drop it a couple of psi and see if that changes anything. I put an gauge on mine and after market adjuster. Sounds like what you need. I had to raise mine from 38 with no vac to 45 with no vac. I have a cam, heads and did a gt40 intake swap. Still have some tuning to do but its drivable and does not fall on it face in the upper rpm's. Its still not very steetable in lower rpms and I think that's a timing adjustment. Im just guessing but if its rich then thats an issue u can start with.

been looking at tunres now. and i see that timing can be tweeked at 4k. thats when mine falls on it face and lash adjusters fail.

Do you have a dyno tuner in mind yet? I would make sure you use the brand that your local dyno guy is going to be familar with to get the best results.

Personally I have had better luck with the SCT X3, but if your looking for a non custom device you buy retail will need the SF3. Id talk to your dyno guy before making any decisions...

Im not anti Diablo, I run one on my 2002 F350 Diesel, but with my tuning expierence on the Mustangs I use SCT exclusive, eith chip or X3.

SCT LiveWire Tuner w/ 3 Free Custom Tunes and free tunes as i add on with other stuff.... Is what i have my eye on. But it realy dont give much detail on what it all can do. like timing and so on..
