Lets see, 15k for the body, w/ the right wrecked late model donor and other suspension wiring,trim,interior,pieces parts.......what, a $30,000.00 65' mustang notch/vert?

What Ford needs to do is assemble the car themselves, adding the necessary required safety junk to keep it close to safe by todays' standards (maybe D/S air bag, 3 pt harness system, ABS) and then sell it as a S/O "new" car w/ a warranty for 35k. Wouldn't they still have the original tooling to make the sheetmetal themselves? I'd bet that every Dynacorn body style that is currently made could be done the same way. I'd bet they sell. ( Even @ 50k)

Good deal if you're not interested in starting with a bucket of rust. Definitely for the disposable income crowd though.
Yeah depending on how you look at it, that could be a major time and money saver. Year One has been making shells for years.

My father in law has a 66 drop top 289 4spd sitting in his shop, halfway through a resto. It hasn't been touched in ten years. He's got everything there for it new- top, interior, etc, it just needs to be sanded, painted and assembled. When I ask him to sell it to me, he says he's saving it for his grandson....

I am sure you could find a near perfect shell of a mustang for much less than that, and when you are done, you would actually have a real mustang. A mustang built with that body will always be a "fake" and I don't know how you would register it, especially if there are emmissions laws.

15k if you own one of the 300k verts they made or have a coupe that you want to convert is not crazy. just buy a rusty one and have a body man give you a quote for all the metal work im sure your going to be around 10K . I would just go out and buy a nice one for 30 and call it day, im pretty sure nice ones go for 22-30k and will always hold their value as original not kits

Yeah, nicely restored 65-66 Mustangs sell for around 30K. This is fine for people who have f**k you money and want to build a nice car quickly, but if I was ever in the market for a 65 I'd definitely try and find a nicely restored original
