Yeah I've been debating the same thing after my BMW lease is up. The new GTs are just too pricey at the moment for me, so I'm considering a performance pack V6 or a 2010+ GT myself.
To me, the new body/model is just ridiculously nicer, that said, you can get a more solid performance car if you go the 2010+ GT route over the V6. Only their STOCK hp numbers are close. A 2010+ GT will respond better with mods than the V6 would with those same mods. However, I wouldn't personally recommend anything below a 2010 GT though since you have the choice. Unless you specifically like something about that model more. The platform/engine (as well as body, imo) from the 2010+ is much nicer for the money.
So if your option is only 2005-2009 or the 2015 V6, i'd say get the V6. If you can swing a 2010, '11, 12' etc....then those are solid GTs as alternatives to the '15 V6.
Could also pick up an '03-'04 cobra with that cash.

I would go with the GT. There seem to be more power adding mods you can get for it than you can for the six cylinder -provided you want to add Power-. Overall I think it is a better starting point.

I personally would go with a V8 but it depends on what you are looking for. If it's power, the v8 will be a better starting point (unless you are planning on dropping in a new motor). If you want the v6, go for something 2011 and up if possible. Just keep in mind that the coyote motor is 2011+. 2010 model year had the newer body style, but the same 3v motor from 2005-2009.
