Wondering if anyone has upgraded and added a window defroster in the rear of their foxbody hatchback ? Mines came with what maybe factory tint ? Although it has no defroster, so i must add it. Anyone have any experience on this ? I wonder if the window tint people do both ? Tint, and add a defroster ? Or will i have to do the defroster myself, or get it done when i have them remove the tint ?

Usually, you want one or the other Aftermarket tint is applied on top of the defroster. Defroster cooks tint. Cooked tint and removing cooked tint takes out defroster grid.

Factory tinted glass may be in the glass, so the defroster will not cook the plastic tint. Good luck.
Wow, thanks for that info. I need to do more research, wonder if they even made windows with defroster for 92 hatchbacks. Thanks

Of course they do, and pretty much any 87-93 rear window will work...possibly even older.

Up in the northern states, defroster was common. Here in MA, I don't think I've ever seen a Fox without defrost. I'd almost call it rare.

No such thing as factory tinted glass for the Fox mustang. That implies a dark tinted glass similar to what you see on a an SUV. The glass on the fox is not perfectly clear though due to the imperfections in the glass, so there is always a slight, slight tint. But pretty much there are ONLY two windows for the fox mustang. With defroster grid lines, and without it.

If you want rear defrost, find a rear window and swap it ino your hatch. Plug it in, plug in a switch and you should be good to go. Just keep in mind aftermarket tint, when removed, tends to rip up the defrost grid lines. Hard ot get it off cleanly, so keep this in mind when searching used glass

I should specify the roll up plastic that you spray soapy water on to apply and cut around the edges is what easily bakes. I hope the pro applied stuff is better, because my 91 came with both, and I am using the defrost grid very sparingly.
When DIY tint was first big, I sold a lot of defroster grid repair paint. It was in a fingernail polish (or smaller) bottle. You taped on both sides of the grid strip with masking tape, and painted the missing or damaged spots back in with this metallic paint.
If you find a hatch to swap, (easier than just the glass?) this stuff may need a little of this grid repair paint. 3M and Permatex are brands I would ask for.

Look at your picture!
I think you forgot to shut off the pump and pay the last time fulfilled up. Or your car is being attacked by the deadly gas snake.
