Skip that one. Buy a Dodge with a Cummins instead and save a fortune in fuel and repairs.- '09+ 6.7L Powerstroke F350+
How'd I do? What'd I miss?
Powerjokes, the 6.4 is the worst for reliability, the 6.0 costs to much to make reliable, and the 6.7 is Volkswagen levels of stupid in engineering and BMW bad in oil leaks.Damn. Rest of your list? Pretty good list, I'm especially a fan of the new GT350, it is phenomenal to drive.
7.3s are too damned hard to find. What about my 97 sd 7.3 turbo?
I know it's slow but has been as dependable as a rock.
s whatsoever about what was happening to them.I asked Brad why he didn't run the used oil like the other guy, and that was his reasoning, the trans fluid was about the same thickness as diesel, and other than higher EGTs when towing (but still within tolerances unless pulling more than about 5,000lbs) he said there were no negative effects and he got the same fuel mileage.Ha! That's hilarious. I keep hearing about how you can run them on other-than-diesel fuels, but I didn't think that would be realistic on the HPOP system. The fact he did that with the '03, means the HPOP didn't care. I wonder if the thinner trans fluid was more appropriate than the used oil for some reason.
Damn. I'd heard they were almost as good as the 7.3s.
The 6.0 gets a bad rap but it's been pretty good to my mother with around 200k and 13 years on an excursion. Couple accessories, and the EGR crap had to come out, but the stock drivetrain is still going strong.
He just pumped it straight from the BG trans flush machine into his truck. The machine was connected in-line between the transmission and cooler when flushing a transmission, so the transmission filter was already filtering the fluid going into the machine, and that was good enough for him. This guy had been doing it for three years and put 50,000 miles a year on his truck, so he wasn't having any problems from it.Good to know. Need to make some mechanic friends. How did he filter? Did he just use a bucket and funnel?
If I won the lotto for 400 million or something like that, there's a list of Ford's I'd pay anything for just to have. At that point, paying $200K for a teal 1993 Cobra with 100 miles would be well worth it to me.
Ok. Don't need $200k
Just need to win enough to pay $30k
