Engine Cold air intake help needed.

I need your guys help on figuring out how to set up my cold air intake properly.
So right now I have the factory air box.
The car has 24lb fuel injectors. The throttle body is a C&L 70mm , the mass air meter is C&L 73mm with the factory ford sensor.
I want to take out the factory air box and install BBK cold air intake.
Should I keep the C&L TB and MAS.
When I look up a new MAS on LMR or CJponyparts.com there is a new BBK 76mm MAS listed for 24lb injectors with BBK cold air intake. Should I switch out the MAS. And if so, what about the throttle body at that point. Should also switch it out for a BBK as well.

You might have trouble with the C&L MAF housing & a CAI. The CAI will offer little, if any gain.
I was feeling that the factory cold air box with the factory filter would be limiting the air flow. I JSU thought giving it some air I would get more cooler air and was hoping for a little more rumble from the exhaust.
I have dual flow master exhaust. It sounds good but I wouldn’t mind a deeper tone.

This is just my opinion up front. I've done every type air filter that's common on these cars at one point or another. That includes the ones that cause trouble and I just didn't know any better back then. I'd leave exactly what you have on there. The factory air box is hard to beat. The TB and MAF are fine too. Again....my opinions learned after I wasted my money...lol.

I agree with Wayne on this. Keep the factory box in there, get a reusable K&N filter in there and drive it. It is a waste of money. Plus I think they just look funny these days, I guess I’m just getting older. It also won’t effect the the exhaust sound.

Thank you guys for your information. That new intake was 189$. If it really won’t change things than I guess it is a waste of time and money. I fell right into the advertisement information from the description in hopes of gaining the possible 15 hp they say it adds to the car by removing the old air filter because it is limiting air to the plenum.

agree, use the stock air box... but remove the silencer if it's still on there (that would be the part in the wheel well, i'm going to be using the stock air box when mine goes back together with a K&N, if you look at the opening, it pretty dang large.. and its pulling the cool air from the fender well...

Spend the money on a 3G alternator upgrade.

I actually want to get a factory air box to replace the hacked up BBK cold air on my car currently. The previous owner just left the air cone in the engine bay, so I'm just sucking up hot air.

I took my BBK cold air intake off and sold it to a member here and put the stock airbox back on with a K&N drop in filter. Noticed zero difference in power.

The BBK CAI doesn't stay nice and shiny too long. It's tends to start to pit and get oxidized pretty quickly.

If you have it, might as well toss it in, but be aware the car may actually run differently and when the metal piping heats up, it may actually affect power.

Also, with regards to your original question, if you have stock heads, no real gain by changing out your throttle body

I don’t really have stock anything except the air box at this point. I have the cobra replica intake with aluminum boss heads. Roller rockers and lifters. Edelbrock cam and crank. 24lb injectors, 70mm C&L throttle body, 73mm MAF. Headers, h pipe, dual flow master exhaust, t3 transmission, aluminum drive shaft.

Your still probably fine with the 70mm TB. No real rush to upgrade that, especially if the cobra intake isn't ported (lower intake and/or TB opening)

As for ther CAI..you have it so might as well install it

The is has some get up and go. I feel it is a pretty fast car, I feel it is just a street car that is fun driving but at the same time it is not no where near set up like a drag car.
I went up against 2018 mustang GT that basically only had upgrade exhaust. That car was fast. That newer GT was pulling away from me.

is that pipe for sale? If you can mock together and let me see how it turns the filter and rather it puts in in the fenderwell or bay because i'm pondering what to do with my 351 setup on my 95. I'm doing a mild build no track and need a 3 to 3 1/2 inch tube; i don't need a 4 inch tube.

so are you saying that overall if someone runs the filter in the bay vs having it in the fenderwell, there might be little to know difference in notice of feel/power or anything? I called Pro M earlier to ask about meters and what i was trying to do with my mild 351 build for my 95. I'm goino with an 80 mm accufab and around a 90 mm maf. I was also going to get the 86-93 sve cold air pipe black and needed a non flanged meter for it. They don't have the size i need in non flanged as flanged is for the 94 95 pipe and that pipe is for the elbow. I am doing the fox tb swap by the way and so i'm looking now at maybe just buying a pipe that will put the filter in the bay. I'd rather just buy a pipe more than likely vs making up my own. Not ruling out making my own but we'll see. If putting it in the bay won't harm much then i'd just do that. The car will not be a daily nor see the track at all

Oh and Pro M also said there's only a 5 degree difference in temp from fender well air to the bay's air

Did you asked them under what conditions they determined it was only 5*.

Because driving down the road at 20mph will net you a smaller difference than idling in traffic for 45mins.

no didn't think to. But there won't be many times if any that I'll be stuck in traffic anywhere near that long lol with the car I'm building.

There's other factors to think about. We kinda need to tailor them to our own cars. For example, non coated headers get hot as hell under the hood. A big turbo can add underhood heat, changed to our radiators/cooling/fan/air deflectors, etc. That's why I dismiss a blanket 5* difference without knowing the parameters from a company trying to sell a kit with an underhood filter.
