Buy new 2011+ mustang vs supercharged fox / newedge ?

I didn’t know the 2004 cobras were terminators I thought they were something else I always see them referred as the 03 terminator. The older cobras before then has no supercharger or All forged internals like the terminator does
2003-2004 Cobras are the Terminators. You should check out this book sometime. Pretty interesting read on how the Terminator Cobra was developed and produced.

Oh without a doubt ! When the day comes that I'm ready to buy you can guarantee I'll be looking south.
Actually the wife and I are planning on heading in that direction in 5-7yrs. which may be perfect timing.

If you're dead set on owning a Termi, I would not wait another 5 to 7 years. :notnice:

Good examples are already rare and expensive. That portion will not improve over time.

Maybe it’s because I’m a big guy but my 2014 has never felt like a huge car to me. I mean the fox definitely feels smaller but the 2014 is about the perfect size for someone like me.
Drove a Roush supercharged ‘13 for the first time not long ago (cousins car). Absolutely loved it! Much smoother and more refined than the Fox for sure, but still had the muscle car feel, and “big” definitely wasn’t something that came to mind.
I’d like one of each! (...or 2 or 3)

Yeah they are going to go up.
It really was a revolutionary change.
6 speed trans and factory supercharged
One could argue it has laid the foundation for all supercharged american muscle currently available regardless of manufacturer.
If the 93 cobra is any indication of the market, in 7 years terminators will cost significantly more than they did new.
And the 93 cobra really wasn't nearly as innovative and people are eating them up.

Oh believe me I don't want to wait that long and understand they are only going up but I still have one in college $$ .
Probably a pipe dream but on the bucket list.

Honestly, I think the entire SN95 market is going to go up in 5-7 years. They are a steal right now compared to fox bodies, and those millennials who saw them new on the showroom will be growing up.

It’s kinda silly how cheap you can get a 96-98 Cobra for.

It's insane how cheap you can get ANY 96-98 car for. I've seen running/driving 3.8L cars for under $1000, GTs that were a little rough or had high mileage but were still going for as low as $1500, and Cobras in the $5000 range rough but running... All of that is cheaper than their approximate Mustang II equivalents, and I never thought I'd see the day that they weren't the cheapest Mustangs on the market. If there weren't three trailers, four daily drivers, a pair of project cars and a work truck at the house right now, I'd grab a '96-98 car to play around with.

I always thought it would be a good idea to buy a 96-98 saleen and do a terminator top end swap. But the price on those saleen model's have creeped up and it would have to be limited to around 400rwhp.
Arguably the 96-98 Gt's were worse than the 94/95's.

The best thing about a '96-98 GT is that a Coyote drops right in place of the 4.6. It bolts to the K-member, it bolts to the transmission, it's a very easy swap. That's just about the only way to build a "sleeper" Mustang at this point, because most people are used to that "loud 96-98 Mustang" making 215 horspower... not 400+

You could always buy a 96/98 GT and PI swap them motor. You can get those heads, cams and intake fairly cheap and add an aftermarket plenum and TB. With exhaust mods, and the higher compression of the 96-98 motor, you can get to 300hp crank with them. Was a popular swap back in the early/mid 2000s

yeah it’s a lot of work for 300hp, but you can get those cars pretty darn cheap and 300hp on a street car can be fun.

Edit: looks like 300 rwHP is possible on a PI swapped 98

Keep Saleens intact or as Saleens and just get a x8 or x6 car then do that swap!

It's only a top end swap.
Most likely it would add value to a model that really wasn't loved.
Terminator saleen's are nearly impossibly to find, so it's a good alternative.
I don't think anyone is going to complain that someone removed non PI heads, intake and cams.

Very few cobra based Saleens. They tend to fetch a premium.

most in the mid 90s were N/A Saleen S281s with a 2v or the S351. I think 2001-2004 was the S281 extreme with the roots blown 2V.

n/a S281s used to be available cheap, $10k could get you a clean one. Now those are climbing

Top end swap? I'm thinking an entire terminator drivetrain. Those were 5 speeds weren't they?

Your talking about GT based Saleens not Cobras?
Yeah, just run of the mill Na 96-98 s281s.
You used to be able to pick up a budget rental car for like 5 grand.
Add the top end from a terminator for another $2500 and you are set.
