Engine Carbed 5.0 swapped run like chit.

Like a ticking noise?
You mentioned a header leak, I didn't pick up on that. Run a compression test.
Yea like a ticking noise but im not 100% sure as the car is quite loud lol. But yes i thought maybe a header leak but i snugged the bolts up a little and its still making that sound. I dont have a tester thats worth a darn, i could rent one when i go to the store obviously, but would i be able to easily tell if i just took the valve cover off since its quite easy to do?

The standard autolite copper 25s are a good plug for our 5.0 engines. No need for platinum in my opinion.
Ok so i just got done doing a compression test on the side where it sounds something might be off, i got one 140 two at 145 and last at 150. Also just put new autolite 25s in that side of the motor gapped at .054. I have yet to compression test the other side due to not having a helper to tell me the compression so ive had to set up my phone and video the tester since it loses the pressure too quick. I’ll test the other side when i can get help but for now am going to pop new plugs in.. as for the fuel filter, least of my worries as of yet.

Typically when I do a compression test I pull all the plugs out, then test one cylinder at a time. It allows for more even cranking and less stress on the starter and battery. I suppose your noted readings are still accurate.

I don't see a major issue there so far. Having them all between 140 and 150 and then one that was 100 would be an issue.

I agree with karthief. Your issues sure seems to be electrical related. When its running poorly does it smell more rich than normal? Any smoke out the tailpipes? If so what color?

Ok well I'm beyond embarrassed. If theres a lesson to be learned is do all the easy things first just to make sure its not the issue. I did all the plugs and started it, with no change. I turned off the car before i switched off my fuel pump,, and i noticed my fuel pump was all of the sudden much noisier than usual.. it prompted me to do what i thought in the first place and go get gas lol, i put 5 gal of 93 in it And started it and its now running like a dream:D:rolleyes:. I thought since the pump got louder maybe it was sucking air aka out of gas, or maybe the pump really has gone bad. But nope just needed more gas, im unsure why or how it went through 10gallons of gas with only driving it for maybe 50miles of driving or so:shrug: yes i have a lead foot but does it really only get like 5miles a gallon??!Anyways, its time to fix the fuel gauge obviously. And i think i need to change my name and move to a island because yall are gonna hate me haha. But i do appreciate everyones help, so I’ll catch you maybe the next time i run out of gas:jester:

Hey, don't sweat it, I know a member here that spent many hours building and fabricating and on the test run couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start, yeah you guessed it, outta fuel.
Definitely something easily forgotten or looked past. Im Grateful everytime when its something easy like no fuel, even if i spent days trying to find the problem haha. Thank you Karthief!
