It's Grilling Time! The Official Stangnet Grill/Smoke Thread

Who am I kidding. At some point I'm going to buy one of these.
If you have any camping/outdoor stores around you like Bass Pro, etc... They 'usually' have pretty good prices on this stuff and you can look it all over IRL.

Also... ElCheapo cast-iron charcoal grills get a thumbs up for grab-and-go.

Unless you're planning on hiking with it. O_o

Imagine the marinades you could make with the leftovers from your morning caffeine kick :nice:

this is what I’d like to buy for myself this year-

I have a Nespresso machine. I keep the carts in the freezer and use it when it suits me (it's like a sweet tooth). It is, relative to the Keurig, an expensive machine to run. The others that live here don't drink coffee. They use the hell out of the Keurig but I wouldn't call what they drink, coffee. :nonono:

I got the 17" griddle/fryer combo for Christmas. I'm still finding ways to use it and haven't run out of room to cook for 4.

Another thing I notice: I think it's just become the cheap way out for grill makers to use a horizontal slot in the back of the grill to exhaust. They suck and should have a proper stack.

The purpose is to burn logs down to coals similar to the way a burn barrel does in an old school bbq pit. A genuine Argentine parilla is height adjustable like a Santa Maria and has V bars for the grate and catches drippings in the front for use in gravy.

So, super bowl sunday tomorrow. All my kids want to watch the game with me this year. What do I cook for them?

These:

I’m going to cook these again, I’ll be using a sweet yellow onion this time instead of the red one i used before.

I‘m going to use something I read about.

So, one teaspoon of baking soda mixed with a tablespoon of water, then mixed with 2#’s of hamburger. It’s supposed to change the ph of the hamburger making it difficult for the proteins in the meat to bind and squeeze out their own juices. Plus it makes the browning effect pretty intense.

Super crusty and super juicy. Apparently it’s an old way to help meats to brown. Will work on chicken, beef, whatever. Even veggies. Just mix it in about 15 minutes before cooking.

Any y’all know about this?

I just read about this recently as well...adding baking soda to ground beef. I tried it last weekend when I made a pot of chili, but I couldn't tell any difference. Though I think it had to do with the meat being drowned in sauce and diced tomatoes.

Next time I make burgers or some other dish involving ground beef, I'll try the baking soda and see if it makes more of a difference.

I've done that with chicken for stir fry. It's called velveting.

I’ll do one patty without the baking soda to compare directly.

I‘m going to start cooking around 3:30ish, so I’ll have an answer prior to the game tonight.
