Suspension Harsh Ride

That sounds like a good idea, probably I exaggerated on the superb handling but I feel the handling very good, firmly and responsive.
I have no idea on my front to rear weight balance, I have a 306 ci with twisted wedge heads stage 1 cam and TFS lower and upper intakes and the battery is in the trunk, so what would be the appropriate coil-overs and H&R rear springs should be? Perhaps some part numbers???
I just came back from a short test ride with all the tires 30 psi or air pressure and definitely it made a difference.

In this idea what could be a good tire air pressure on my Yokohama avid Envigor 245 45 17 ??? Some settings that don’t sacrifice much fuel economy and or cause an abnormal thread wear that could better the ride comfort?????
I run 30 psi FR/28 psi rear on my Continental 245/45-17's.

Just call maximum motorsports and ask them. They will sell you what you need.
I ran a red set of H&R springs, which probably means I had the "race" set, judging by pictures on their website.
Now I use torque arm specific H&R springs.

For the front I use 275lb springs on MM bilstein coil overs. I'd guesstimate 300 or 250lb springs would be just fine too.

Their parts do cost more money, just keep in mind it's a one time cost.
Don't quote me on this, but i also believe MM front control arms will work on the stock k member (just need the right offset). I wouldn't waste my time with new stock replacements if you goto coil overs.
Very good, I’ll follow up on your suggestions.
Thank you

I have Bilstein struts with the MM 250# coilover springs (not yet installed), but I went with 250# to keep some semblance of ride quality for the street. I think that was the lowest you could go without moving to a drag type setup, at least from MM.

It looks like coilovers is the ticket for better ride quality and performance.
I’ll look into that.

Thank you

I still feel like yours 'should' ride pretty decent unless those poly bushings really make that big of a difference. I run H&R Race Springs with some shot KYB orange struts (i do have new Bilsteins in the rear). Besides the Bilsteins the springs and struts are from the PO. Can't wait to get my coilovers on and raise the front of the car a bit too. My current ride quality is complete garbage, but i do think the KYB struts just aren't enough (and old) to keep up with the springs.

If I stay within 29-30 psi on my tires the ride is smoother, and spending on new coil overs and different shock is going to be out of my budget at this point.

Thank you

I’m going to tell you that the only thing the coil overs do is allow for more selection on spring height and rates. My cars are full coil over cars with Komi double adjustable dampers. They both ride just fine but are stiff as I chose stiffer springs.

My Coupe was great with the traditional coil springs and dampers. You have to match the damper to the spring rate. Putting a race spring in the car on OEM dampers is well just retarded. Call Maximum Motorsports and tell them what springs you have on the car and you are just needing good dampers to go with them. Explain to them the car is primarily driven on the street and you enjoy spirited driving. They will guide you on damper selection.

Your coil springs are just fine for street duty and spirited driving. Get some good dampers and pint the urethane bushings.

You may have mentioned it already but what is the sidewall size of your tires? 45's?
Yes 245 45 17

i will re-think the way to go.
Thank you for your suggestions

If you read through the faq section of MMs website, they explain why coil overs improve the ride and how the location of the coil over spring is superior.
There are some other bonus's, less weight, easily adjust ride height and it makes front end work easier (and safer) without the standard coil springs being loaded up.
Then you have the fact that you can goto tubular control arms and k members much easier in the future.

Personally, i'm never messing with a mustang with standard front springs ever again. I'm just removing them.

I have these on my 1991 LX Coupe 5.0

I want to try these g-force comp 2 a/s plus on the rear...

I have BFGoodrich g-Force COMP-2 A/S Plus
on the is front 245 50 16 Tires @ 33 psi with 245 50 16 Nitto NT555®RII @ 28
psi on the rear with no balding in the middle and the ride is buttery smooth and handling is fantastic. and I have the factory spare tire mounted in the trunk seemed to handle a bit better after I put it back in. also my battery is in the trunk extra weight on the rear helps alot during launch at a light she grabs the pavement like glue and takes off so sweet.

You switch from nitto drag radials to all season tires and i can pretty much guarantee you are going to be unhappy.
If you want to keep it brand inclusive maybe try the G force rival.
Just be careful there are two models, one is rated the other isn't.
I'm going to guess the unrated model is better.

Back in the day we always went for tires with a 000 treadwear rating.
Now the norm is around 200.
You would be going from 100 to 400.

Only problem is the g-Force Rival S 1.5
Extreme Performance Summer Tires I can only get 215/45R16 was hoping for 245 50 16

Smaller tire sizes are disappearing from all brands at this point.
Even 18's are small by modern standards.

Tirerack has the same rears you have now, if you like them why are you changing them to something different?
You probably aren't going to do much better.
I need 275/35/18, they have the nittos in 275/40/18, if clearances weren't so tight on my car, i would be buying those.

I get nervous when I'm driving in wet weather with the nittos lol

If your current tires are working I would stick with them.

I run 275/40R17 555 RII’s and will be switching to ET Streets next time. Zero bite with the 331 and 3.73’s. Will see if the Moser axles are up to the task.
