While I agree that it's not always the case, it did happen.
I remember 3 vehicles in particular. One was a Ford Galaxie with a 352 V8.
The other 2 were Mopars. We had a Dodge truck with a Poly 318 that hit 200k miles before rusting out. The other was a '69 Polara with a 318. It had just over 200k before being totalled.
In '71 we bought a new Dodge Power Wagon 4x4 for the farm. It had a 360 that served us well into the mid 80's. Our neighbor gave us crap about owning that Dodge as he was a Chevy man. My father told him when that truck hit 200,k, he would drive circles around the neighbor's house. Well guess what? Old Earl had a circle track in his grass from that truck. Lol. When the bed rotted out, we parked that truck. We used Wolfs Head oil out of a 55 gallon drum for the tractors and vehicles. They all used straight 30 if I remember correctly.
Maintenance goes a long way.
