I put the covers in the washing machine and washed them three times with a cup of bleach and laundry soap each time. Nice and clean now. I took the foam and put them in my bathtub and used bleached them in cool water while marching on them for about five minutes. Then rinsed them several times.
Here's the difference between eggshell and my half an eggshell. Eggshell is plainly to shiny to me. You also see the other 1/4 parts in the primer stage.
I painted over the rocker chip guard with black sealer, two coats of black that i already matched up to my new dash pad. Then i clearcoated it with a finish i call "half an eggshell".
This gave me the exact sheen i was looking for.
I then sprayed a fine rocker chip guard over the entire panel to give it a textured look somewhat like original. I sanded the rcg with 400 by hand to knock off the "sandy" feel of it prior to paint.
I used Panel Bonding Adhesive and drywall mesh tape to repair this area. I sanded the area with 80 grit on my DA sander first. I also used a plastic adhesion promoter to help with it to adhere to the plastic.
