‘89 LX 5.0 convertible mods

The vert fox bodies have 4 stiffening plates attached with bolts and rivets from the factory.. They are under the front of the doors and just behind the doors..
My MM subframe stiffener instructions show them being cut and modified then welded to the subframe/stiffener bars...
I have not installed my sub frame stiffeners yet, so I can't say how they have worked or whatever......
Your car is super nice and I would keep it as stock as possible, but seeing what holds the front and rear of a Convertible Fox body together the full stiffener bars are a must in my opinion....
I have attached a pic of one of the stock stiffening plates off of the car.. I " think ' this is one of the front plates...

First mod would be full length subframe connectors. The stock AOD is the biggest holdback on these cars.
Hey, my mechanic just told me the same thing you did as far as first thing to do to stiffen up the ride of my car. Also suggested flowmaster 40 series. He directed me to summit racing to get the connectors. Is this all I need? Or do you have ones you recommend? Thanks

Maximum Motorsports subframe connectors seem to be the most popular here on the forum.

Regarding the Flowmaster 40s, they have a tendency to drone when driving at highway speeds. Maybe it doesn’t make a lot of difference in a convertible, but you might want to spend a little time researching your choices.

Global West on both of my Foxes. I like how they install next to the stock subrames so I did not loose any ground clearance as both my cars are fairly low.

The seat supports are a must in my opinion no matter what brand you go with.

The whole exhaust was ceramic coated by Jet-Hot in Oklahoma City. The headers are 1-7/8 primary to 3-1/2” collectors, the X-pipe is 3-1/2”, and the cat back is an old MAC 3” system.
