Small vibration <1500 RPM's, suspension pop, etc

So last weekend didn't go as planed at all. I have a 90 GT Convertible with nearly 200k miles on it. The AOD was slipping quite a bit so I found a low millage uses one locally. This last weekend I pulled the motor and transmission, replaced the following: timing set front main seal...

Pulling motor for oil pan gasket, what am I forgetting?

Valve cover gaskets were replaced a couple of years ago with some nice rubber one's. No leaks there!

Pulling motor for oil pan gasket, what am I forgetting?

The tranny's first gear clutches are slipping from a start, and sometimes it slips during a soft 1-2 shift. I have a rebuilt one going in; wide ratio gears, shift kit, etc. The first AOD lasted me 200k+, I don't see a reason to change everything over in my daily driver to make it a manual.

Pulling motor for oil pan gasket, what am I forgetting?

My 90 GT's AOD is slipping. I have a replacement to install but figure since my oil pan, front main and rear main seals are leaking I might as well pull the motor and tranny together and fix everything at once. Here's a list of what I plan on replacing, am I forgetting anything? New...

    Air silencer removal?

Don't be a hater. I just had my car towed home because I lost all of my oil and a rod started knocking. I don't know what the hell happened, added two quarts and it's pouring out the rear somewhere. I'm going to drink a lot of beer now.

    Power windows inop.

Check all of your fuses, get a repair manual or find one online so you know what fuse you should be looking at. Do you hear anything when you press the button? Like the motor's spinning but the window's not moving? If the motor's spinning and not moving the window then it's probably the nylon...

    Air silencer removal?

*Note smart a$$ comment* You don't have to worry about stuff like that on a turbo motor. <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m64/fastmonkeywheels/DSCN1505.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a>...

    Trans Info

I forget what it's called, maybe RAD-4? It's a German built 4-speed with reverse at the top left correct? I think nylon rope is stronger. I don't recommend putting a 4-cyl T-5 behind a V8, much less this tranny. I'm running one in my 78 Mustang II w/ 2.3 Turbo until I get around to putting...

AOD now in a 78' Mustang

Glad to hear you got it started. You never commented on The Cobraman's mention of the TV cable carb adapter. You can burn the transmission up very quickly if the TV pressure isn't set correctly. Did you get the TV cable adapter?

I hit boost last night for the first time

Well I was looking into the Merkur independent rear suspension this weekend. It's a bolt out of the xr4ti but will require more welding fabrication that I feel comfortable with (at my current skill level). I have a lot of xr4ti friends with suspension upgrades and wanted something to do so I...

I hit boost last night for the first time

Yeah, has to be coil. I'm even looking into fittment of a Merkur 8.8...independent rear suspension :). They are almost a bolt in (providing fitment).

I hit boost last night for the first time

So I finally got my 2.3 Turbo running good and was able to get some boost out of it. I took it a little easy because the rings haven't seated yet. I love having a unique Mustang II. Who here has a unique II? I know we have some 4.6 and 5.4L guys here, any other cool things people have...

Front sump oil pan with rear sump block, dip stick hole?

So I didn't realize this problem until I went to check my oil. I have a 2.3 Turbo in a 78 Mustang II. Everything except the oil pump and oil pan are from a 86 T-Bird, pan and pump are from a Pinto. I think I see in the casting where the front sump block had the dipstick go. I was...

AOD slipping, rebuild or buy new?

I've rebuilt an AOD before and I don't have the facilities to do it again.

AOD slipping, rebuild or buy new?

So my 196k AOD has finally started slipping when I accelerate hard in a right turn. I assume it's pressure related. Given the mileage on the tranny I have no idea how it's held up this long. Anyways, I was looking into a stock rebuild, or possible a PA Super Streeter...

I am looking for a part please read......

Finding a replacement is difficult, I've never seen them. A lot of guys replace that breather a few feet of hose and put an oil catch can on there, with an open air breather. It's so little oil that comes out of there that draining it back into the pan isn't really worth it. Also, just plug...

    belt tensioner pulley squeaking

Well I guess it warmed up enough today that it's not squeaking any more. So replacing it now wouldn't actually solve anything. 89bluecobra: I'm almost positive it was only getting on the backside of the pulley. I used one of those small straw things that came with the silicone spray. I...
