    Yeah, they go out like that in bronco II's. But this was infact the problem, I'm all fixed up now. The check engine light is what let me know it wasn't just the tach. Plus this little beater runs even better now, even though I wouldn't have thought that possible for a 100k(m) car.

    The distributed 2.3 used a tfi module to adjust timing and I believe it also controlled the tach. Or was it the coil on those models? I know that's where I connected the after market one in the 88 because the stock circut was shorted.

    The temp switch controls the relay on the strut tower. They where bad on my 88, and my 87. I installed the fan on the GT myself. The 93 I just got has the same system and it is operational.

    Sounds like your cooling fan is non operational. Here's how you check; get a buddy to switch the ignition to run while you watch the fan. It should spin for a moment as it is POST ed.     I just purchased a 93 lx coupe today. My question reguards the tachometer, it reads irratically, and typically thousands of rpms lower than it's actually pumping. This car is coil pack dual plug. Any one used to this problem?

    How do I extract the rear axles from my 89 GT? I have removed the bearing covers on either side of the gear. Do I have to pull the ring gear to get at the c clips?

    It's not technically legal for some one who isn't certified to mess with the ac system. You only need it if you want ac. Dropping the system sheds 20lbs or so and adds cooling points.

    The cutting out definatley sounds like an IAC motor problem (if equiped). But I like the others suggest pulling codes first to be sure.

    You can run that switch to the inside of the car and hide if as an anti theft device if you like. I believe it will also turn on the reverse lights but best to wire that part in. In my car it worked with the auto computer, just threw every autotrans code it could think of.
