Dyno numbers in! - SCT = thumbs up!

There is several varibles that can contribute to what your numbers can be on a chassis dyno. Chassis dyno's can differ one to another. Making one or two runs won't cut it...U need to make several to est. a average of all your runs. A friend of mine ran his 96 Imp. SS on Muscle Mustangs dyno in...

    Oil filter magnets

Your oil filter already traps what a magnet would attract to itself. Most oil filters only trap between the 20 to 40 micron range but a magnet won't be of much extra help.

    anyone Using Redline Motor Oil?

The head chemist at my plant used to work for the man(Lefty Ward) that came up with the amsoil formulations. It is deff. good, no doubt about it but at considerably higher cost. I don't think it worth the extra expense for street car. As far as runnin a 0w weight oil...unless your in below 0...

    anyone Using Redline Motor Oil?

Redline is a good oil but at double the price of Mobile 1 its not worth it. As far as additives go..Its possible they might have something slightly superior but for a street/track car Mobile 1 will do just fine. When running a full synthetic such as the ones mentioned it is true you don't need...

    Gas mileage after X

Just thought I would make mention of this if anyone was interested. Your car seeming to run richer and the fact your gas milage decreased go hand in hand. Your rear O2 sensors are not heating up to normal operating temp. Your engine running a little richer when cold is normal but as the temp. of...

AutoMeter elec. oil temp: sender doesn't fit

I would send autometer a email asking them if they have a solution. I was unaware that they made a sender to replace the drain plug. I had thoughts of using the same guage but was going to put the sender in a thermal t-block spliced into a oil cooler line. Same as if you were puttin a trans temp...

    Altenator questions -- aftermarket stereo

You should have a 130amp alternator. That is plenty of power for your amp. A cap will still make a difference though. It will give you a bit more punch that you can't get by just a stock electrical system alone.

    forged or no forged

The stock short block is good for no more than 500 hp. The stock components will take some boost but nothin crazy. If it was me..and I thought I might add a power adder I would deff. go with forged everything. Even if you dont put boost on it, it will be tough. To really get a good idea on what...

    Spark Plugs

From what Ive read, Sean Hyland recommends replacing the factory plugs with NGK TR6. This is a copper core plug that is one heat range cooler than the factory. Recommend gap on NA engine is .035 and on a forced induction car .030. Also, 12000 mile plug changes on a street car is recommended. For...

What exactly do coolant sensors control?

when your engine is cold its in open loop in which your torque convertor wont lock up yet and it does run a bit richer ...once it warms to a certain temp.(forget where it is) it gos into closed loop and allows torque convertor to lock and leans it out a little so ...yes it does play a roll in...

    Steeda vs. SLP vs. Magnaflow

Unless they came out with it now..(been I while since I looked) the Magnaflow is only 409SS which is a low grade of stainless steel. I would recommend at least a 304 grade if you plan on keeping it. I have the borla myself and I love it. Its not overly loud while cruising but mat the throttle...
