Which Arp 454-150x For Fox Body?

Well the answer is neither. I checked the length of my bolts against the lengths Summit published on their website, and only 3 of the bolts have the right length. The rest are all off by at least 0.5". A lot of sites acknowledge this, yet ARP still makes them. I have no idea why.

Which Arp 454-150x For Fox Body?

So I polished up the timing cover and water pump for my 1991 and the bolts are rusty and nasty. I'm trying to figure out which set matches the 5.0 engine, and none seem to match the timing cover bolts. There are 13 bolts I pulled from the car, 4 of which are stud type with double-threaded...

Engine What Tools Do I Need To Install A Cam?

So after a fairly extensive teardown, I'm about halfway done polishing aluminum bits, and it's time to slap on the new cam and heads. I've never installed a cam before, but pulling it was quite easy, otther than the bumping along the crankshaft lobes as it came out (lifters and heads are off)...

    The official progress threads thread

What is the difference between a "Build" thread and a "progress" thread? I want to start one to cover the work I'm about to do, but it's both.

    Administrative Ok You New Guys.....

So we're clear I posted a tech post in talk, but because I'm talking about the tech I felt like talk was better. :D

Lifter Brand (quality Vs. Cost) Recommendation?

    1. There's no discernible benefit to my particular street build to sell a hand-polished piece that has run perfectly for 10 years to go a Pro-M. I'm not trying to wring out every ounce of power. :) I acknowledge that Pro-M is a superior model, but this piece has served me well for a long...

Lifter Brand (quality Vs. Cost) Recommendation?

Yeah, I'm sourcing all my parts from FTI. He had a very rational reason for recommending the Morel: Made in the USA quality. I agree for the most part. I have no idea what shape the engine internals are in, I last had the intake off about 10 years ago. I've been slowing building up this...

Lifter Brand (quality Vs. Cost) Recommendation?

Thanks for the feedback! I was directed to buy either Lunati LUN-72335-16 or Morel MRL-5323 Sorry about the font, cut & paste and didn't want to link to a sales website. So I pretty much know that these are the "best", but for a street car (not street/strip, not going to race it) I was...

Lifter Brand (quality Vs. Cost) Recommendation?

Hi all, I'm in the midst of preparing for a rather extensive engine update. I budgeted about $3K for the work, and I'm already over-budget, so I'm trying to find options to maintain my plans for a solid street engine that doesn't break the bank. Without listing all the parts, here's an idea...

    Administrative Ok You New Guys.....

I go away for 5 years and this topic is as pervasive as it ever was. :) It would be nice if a forum system allowed for one single forum, and then you can flag the post as either talk or tech, and apply a filter, and then rely on users to self track. It's also one of the reasons I gave up...

My Fox Is 25yo. Historical Plates?

OK, mind is made up. I'm going to apply for classic plates. Once I found out I no longer have to renew them, and just pay a one time $10 fee and not $50 every year into perpetuity, it seals the deal. Thanks everyone! Here's the form BTW: http://publicsafety.ohio.gov/links/bmv4806.pdf

My Fox Is 25yo. Historical Plates?

Yeah, I've got a G35x as my other vehicle, so I'm good to go. It's really sad when my daily driver has 50 more HP than my mustang. Someday I'll finish my engine upgrade. Now to just go wait in BMV lines...

My Fox Is 25yo. Historical Plates?

Hi all... First off, hi. I joined SN a looooong time ago, and it's been a while since I posted. Ever since I had kids 9 years ago the 'stang took a back seat. I still have it, and it's now 25 yo. I'm debating putting historical plates on it. I only put about 300 miles a year on it (my...

Bad Idle. Does this sound bad to you (VIDEO)

EGR valve replacement - code 33 - Crownvic.net From this post I'm tempted to just swap out the EVR solenoid. Is that the doohickey that's on the passenger side strut tower brace?

Bad Idle. Does this sound bad to you (VIDEO)

Well, i pulled the battery. Ran the KOEO test, and got a 15. So then I drove it a while, did some hard pulls on it, and got back. Only one code remains, the 33. Looks like the electrical cleaner did the trick on the MAF. Sweet. I need to pick up a "T" and some spare tubing to finish the...

Bad Idle. Does this sound bad to you (VIDEO)

How do I measure the resistance? between pins C&D and the ground, when the MAF is disconnected from the wiring harness? I can measure the resistance between C&D directly. But wouldn't a resistance check be testing to see the resistance of the resistor on the wires? Also, I went ahead and...

Bad Idle. Does this sound bad to you (VIDEO)

Wow. That saves me from searching. Thanks! Unfortunately read this too late to try any of the tests tonight. I did do some additional trouble shooting, and made the following observations. This all occured after I re-oiled the K&N filter and put it back in. 1. I started the engine...

Bad Idle. Does this sound bad to you (VIDEO)

LOL. I just sold my Honda Accord, I had timing belts on the brain. :) In other news I ran the KOEO test, and came back with codes 33 and 66. In digging around this seems like an EGR Position Sensor issue. Although I'm pretty sure I replaced that once before when I had the intake off...

Bad Idle. Does this sound bad to you (VIDEO)

Cool. I'll take a run through that over the next few days. It's been surging for a few years. I had been running the car at 8 degrees rather than 10, because I couldn't rotate the distributor far enough after installing the intake 7 years ago (yeah, that long at 8 degrees). Since I'm...

How low can *you* go? :) (VIDEO inside)

Completely fun post here: How low - YouTube Since I had my video camera out recording the mustang idle issues, I thought i'd take an SPL video of my single 12" TC sounds SVS sub in a 12" wedge box (From parts express). The sub was a free upgrade when I bought a PC12+ tube sub from them...
