So after a fairly extensive teardown, I'm about halfway done polishing aluminum bits, and it's time to slap on the new cam and heads. I've never installed a cam before, but pulling it was quite easy, otther than the bumping along the crankshaft lobes as it came out (lifters and heads are off).

So I know how to install the timing gear after the cam is in, but what do I do next? Do I need one of those $100 cam degree tools? Here's some technical specs:

Lunati custom grind cam. Lobe Separation is 111*, and intake centerline is 108*. The instructions read: "the asymmetrical design of these lobes may not allow for accurate reading using the centerline method).

All I'm trying to figure out is what tools I really need to buy to make sure I have things like lifter preload set. I already know to get an adjustable pushrod depth checker. Anything else?
