Car bucked and died on the freeway today

Thanks for all the help! Turns out it was just the PIP, but I replaced the entire distributor. I went ahead replaced the ICM since they tend to go out, and my car has 220K miles, and also the coil, as my original ones' electrode was burned and pitted. I am still having a FP issue, as the...

How to test fuel pump if car wont start?

Thanks for all the help! Turns out it probably was just the PIP, but I replaced the entire distributor, as I was running out of time. (It's my daily driver, and I already burned 1.5 vacation days! ) I went ahead and kept the ICM since they tend to go out, and my car has 220K miles, and kept...

    300 rwhp safely

Don't forget that it has to pass smog here in Cali... :( That will limit your selections, as they have to be CARB legal. Regards, Gary

How to test fuel pump if car wont start?

Thanks Wystang, but I knew what the codes were, I just didn't know what the PIP circuit was. I do appreciate all the help! :nice: :D Regards, Gary

How to test fuel pump if car wont start?

Thanks for the tips! BTW, I just put in a new coil and ICM(TFI). I pulled the codes, and there were no 2 digit codes, but the three digit codes were 186 and 211. What the heck is the Profile Ignition Pickup circuit anyway? Regards, Gary

How to test fuel pump if car wont start?

Thanks All! O.K, I just finished for the night, and no luck! Went out and bought a fuel filter (Not installed yet), fuel pressure gauge, coil, and ICM. When I shorted on the FP, the pressure was 40 psi, but as soon as I shut off the pump, it dropped to zero. This tells me that I have...

How to test fuel pump if car wont start?

Thanks! If I just "primed" the pump, then depressed the schrader valve, nothing spewed out; no pressure. If I short the FP test lead, I can make the pump run continously, and I get some fuel spraying out when I depress the valve, though it doesn't seem to be under much pressure. I can also...

How to test fuel pump if car wont start?

Thanks, but I can't leave, as I don't have a car. :) I guess I am curious if the fact that no pressure releases when I depress the schrader valve is indicative of the pump or regulator being faulty. Another question: Don't you have to be running the car to use the pressure gauge? Regards...

How to test fuel pump if car wont start?

Greetings, I posted earlier about my car dying while on the freeway, and I suspect it may be the fuel sytem, whether the relay or pump. If I turn the key to on, but don't crank the car, I hear the pump do it's 2 second thing, but when I then depress the schrader valve, there is virtually no...

Car bucked and died on the freeway today

Thanks all! Donjon, I definately will check the fuel pump, as I made a typo, and meant to say the the fuel filter was replaced, and the pump is still stock. Oops! I will be checking all the standard "got to have fuel and fire" stuff, and will replace tha MAF if I can find the old one...

Car bucked and died on the freeway today

Greetings, Recently, my 94 GT (210K miles) had been having a slight miss under acceleration. I could easily notice it when I was cruising on the freeway in 5th, and just barely accelerated. The car would seem to stumble/surge slightly. Today, I noticed after about 30 minutes on the...

A little help with cooling/heating system, please

Thanks for the tip! :) I have checked the coolant level multiple times, and even tried the tip of loosening the coolant temperature sensor threads, so that any air could bleed out there. I will try burping the hose again today, but I don't hold out much hope that it will cure the problem...

A little help with cooling/heating system, please

Greetings, For the last few months, I have had no heat in my car. Since it was summer, I didn't worry much, but now's the time to fix it. My car has 200K miles on it, and the heater core was replaced about 60K miles ago. There is no leaking into the passenger compartment, no smell, no fogging...

Help me solve my coolant/heater issue...

Hey Scott, Even though though the thermo has been replaced, I was thinking about it as a culprit. I have occasionally noticed the temp gauge jump around from no temp to mid range then back down again. A sticking thermo could also be blocking water flow to the heater core as well, correct...

Help me solve my coolant/heater issue...

Greetings, The past few months, I have noticed that I have no heat. The blower still works, just no hot air. My car has 200K miles on it, and I have replaced the heater core at around 130K, if I remember correctly. There is no tell tale smell of coolant, nor the leaking on the carpet, nor...

    intake manifold question

I don't have that intake, but one of my ratchets has a t-handle at the end, that allows me to twist it and remove bolts after first breaking it loose in the "normal" manner. I would think that it would make short work of that bolt. I seem to have gotten it at WalMart, of all places, years ago...

Looking to hit around 350 BHP..best option?

Under 2K? Wowee! :) The 2K didn't include the h/c/i, did it? As for the Systemax II, Kurt, I had looked at that system, but it stated it was for 86-93, and I have a 94. It also doesn't say anything about CARB certification. Thanks for the input! Regards, Gary

Looking to hit around 350 BHP..best option?

Hey Grn92LX, After looking at TrickFlow's site, the street heat heads are legal, but it doesn't say anything about the intake manifold. Hmmm..I'll keep looking for info. Thanks, Gary
