    CJ Pony - backorder

I made my first order Sunday night from CJ Pony Parts, the first half was here by Wednesday. I had read that they had issues with back orders, but I really didn't think half of the order would be affected. Any feel for how long they usually take to fill orders? Am I waiting for a month or...

    Modified coil spring covers

At least I'm not crazy, I thought it was something like that. I'm not going to run any crazy cambers, so I probably don't need that much clearance, but I've got a healthy size rust hole just above the bump stop, and I thought this might be a good mod to do. Taking out what you did would...

    Oil pump primer

You spin it clockwise to prime, right? On a related note, which way do you turn the crank to get the pistons moving?

    Modified coil spring covers

I seem to remember, and I thought it was either Dazecars or Opentracker, someone describing modifying the spring covers to shorten them up in order to move the bumpstops up on cars with the shelby/arning drop or negative wedge, but I can't find reference to it anywhere now. Does this ring a...

    Oil pump primer

I'm getting ready to revive my 289 after many years, and I want to prime the oil pump before starting. Any body know what size socket I'll need to stick down there to prime the pump?

    Export brace install

I got an export brace, and I'm trying to figure out how to take off the existing extensions from the shock tower. Are there a couple of spot welds or something? All I can really see is gobs of what looks like seam sealer, but it's pretty hard. Or do you just leave the stubs underneath the...

    What gauge?

What gauge metal is used on the inner side of the front frame rail extension, directly inboard of where the outer bumber bracket bolts to? If I just need to patch a hole in that, is it better to replace with one of the short frame rail sections, or can I just weld in a sheet metal patch and...

    68-70 brakes on 65

What brake lines/pieces do I need to adapt 68-70 disk brakes to my '65? The 68-70 hose looks like the hard line would screw into it, but it's got a big bracket on it that I'm not sure how it would mount.

    Global West UCA question

Thanks for the reply. Do you remember if the bolt diameter was any bigger on the GW's? Also, I have a flat washer and a lock washer on each bolt. From some of the pictures I've seen, it looks like maybe the washer should go between the pivot shaft and the spacer bar. Does that sound familiar?

    Global West UCA question

    Nobody has these control arms???

    Global West UCA question

I got a pair of slightly used GW upper control arms, and have some questions. They come with the bolts welded to the pivot shaft, and there is a large bar with two holes that goes between the pivot shaft and the shock tower. Even allowing for a few shims for alignment, the bolts are way too...

    Wheel strength

It could have been more of a commentary on shipping manufacturing out of country for cost savings. I work for a plumbing contractor, and I know for flush valves (those silver things you look at when you take a leak), the major manufacturer has two basic lines, the cheaper line made south of the...

    Wheel strength

I'm trying to decide on new rims, going with 17". I had my heart set on getting a st of AR torq thrust II's, but I was recently talking to anolder gentleman with a sweet '68 that was didn't speak highly of them, saying they are Mexican castings and you never know what you are going to get as...

spherical bearings on lower control arms

I got a set of low mile Global West lower control arms, and I'm getting ready to put them on. The spherical bearing seems kind of tight, how tight should it be and should it be lubricated any way? There's no grease fitting on that end, and it's too tight to get the bearing itself out. If it...

Buy or Build? Which is wiser?

I agree, if that's the circumstances that he had. I got my '65 in 1987, drove it in high school and college, and then parked it until I am able to redo it on my terms, the way I want to do it. Sure, I'm paying for it in a bigger house/garage, but I'd have that if it was complete. Eventually...

    Identify that leafspring!

Identifing marks will probably depend on manufacturer. Non stock springs that are designed to be 1" lowering will lower do just that (or close to) regardless of the spring rate. There are some lower than 620# rate springs on the market. I have 600# springs, I still haven't driven on them...

    Identify that leafspring!

4-1/2 leaf mid (MID, not M10) eyes (sag built in) for lowering over stock. Possibly Grab-a tracks. I just got a set of 4 leaf mids, the ID writing looks very similar to mine. Extra 1/2 spring is to control wheel hop, I wouldn't think you would need those and the under riders.

    Cleaning out a gas tank

Eastwood sells a chemical etching system to clean the tank - it cost's more than one of the new American Designers tanks. Just buy the new tank.

    Can someone ID these shackles?

I bought some pretty nice suspension parts from a guy that's putting a full Griggs setup, among other things, in his '66. The shackles that are on the mid-eye leafs are shown in the picture. They are pretty heavy duty, by the looks of what I got he must have been using the car for some vintage...

    '70 disks on a '65

I found some pictures of the '68-'70 disk brakes showing the hub on the wheel side of the rotor, so that's verified. Still don't know what difference there is in the track width for these spindles/disks compared to the '65 items. Anyone?
