My new engine is a dog!!

I had the intial at about 10, but now im not sure what it is because i adjusted it so i would get the best vacuum about 18 inches at idle, and when i put it in gear it drops to about 14 and the needle is kinda shaky. I dont think it is running rich, but i will check my plugs anyways and that all...

My new engine is a dog!!

My engine has no power at all. I has just barely enough to get the car moving. I could probably be beat by a Geo Metro or something :notnice: This is a fresh build w/rebuilt heads, torque rv cam, stock crank, sealed power pistons, weiand stealth intake and 500cfm Edelbrock performer carb. I...

    Well, my car is totaled...........................

OMG, that is freakin scary. Where were you at for him to be going 60 mph? Glad to hear you are ok, and get well soon. Im with dodgestang on this one. It sucks that your car is totaled, but when you really think about it, it is only a big peice of steel that can be replaced or fixed, you on the...

    attatching mechanical gauges

The t-fitting is only for the oil pressure guage, it allows you to use your stock unit and the aftermarket one. I got my thermostat housing a GI Joes, but i would think that any auto parts store would have them too, it just might take a few tries till you find one that carries them. Good luck...

    attatching mechanical gauges

Do you want to use your stock oil guage too? If not, then just take out the Ford sending unit (located left of the oil filter) and install the mechanical guage there. If you do want to use both then you will have to get a T-fitting from an auto parts store, so you can put both units in the same...

    attatching mechanical gauges

So you are talking about electric guages, not mechanical eh? Im not an electrician either, that is why i chose mechanical guages. Maybe its just me, but there is just something about a mechanical guage that seems more manly than a electric one. Oh, and to answer your question i dont think you...

Or buy a T-fitting from any local auto parts store, so you can run both at the same time.

    Problem w/Edelbrock carb etc.

There are 3 vacuum ports, right? One in the back, and two in the front?

    Problem w/Edelbrock carb etc.

Would a vacuum leak smooth out at a higher rpm, say 2000-2500?

    Problem w/Edelbrock carb etc.

No, I havent touched any of the adjustment screws yet, they are as is when taken out of the box. Supposedly it is ready to run right out of the box. They are tuned my Edelbrock before thay are shipped out, it may not be tuned exactly to the engine, but it should be close enough for it to run on...

    Problem w/Edelbrock carb etc.

I am having a problem with my new Edelbrock carb. The problem is it will not idle by itself, i have to keep my foot on the gas pedal to even make the engine run, the second my foot moves or comes off the pedal the engine dies. I managed to do my cam break-in this way, but i really need to figure...

    Flexplate issues, i need help!

Yeah i did, that is why i installed the convertor to the flexplate while the engine was suspended from the hoist. It slid right in the pilot hole no problem. Any other ideas  I personally am out of ideas to try, i was hoping someone here could help me :( Thanks anyways Worth

    Flexplate issues, i need help!

Oh and just so you know, i put the torque convertor on the flexplate while it was out of the car (on a hoist) and tightened everything down and turned over the engine and it didnt rub at all, the clearances were all fine. So something is changing when it gets installed to the trans that is...

    Flexplate issues, i need help!

Well i have come across another problem trying to get my engine and transmission together. Originally i couldnt get the two mated together because my convertor wasnt all the way back, but i pushed and wiggled on it some more, and it is now where it should be. I can get the engine and...
