    Big piece of steel on the rear end

    I just had my rear end completly rebuilt. The guy took that piece of steel off of the top. Is that piece neceassry? It is the big heavy piece and I think its kind of u-shaped.

    ok I am still confused. If I used these adapters can I use all of the 87-93 hardware up until the ssn95 rear rubber lines that go to the caliper? Or do I still need to get the sn95 rear line?

    Oil Pan recomendations

    I bought a used short block with no oil pan. the stock pan does not fit over the mellin oil pump. Any recomendations on what to do? I really do not want to buy a $250 aftermarket pan and I dont want to hammer out the stock pan. any suggestions? thanks.

    Rewiring inside fuel tank?

    Its actually a new tank. I know not to solder near a tank. My question is if I dont have access to a soldering gun can I just clamp the wires with a wire clamper and the plastic wire sleeves and be done with it?

    I am replacing my stock fuel pump with a holley 255 in tank. Holley supplies a new plug and harness with the tank. The stock connectors from the sending unit do not fit into the holley pump. I am guessing I have to cut into the factory wires and splice in the new wires and plug. I am just...

    Anyway to check this? I'm pretty sure I'm good, but just want to double check. I dont hear the pump hitting when I rest the pan on the motor. The motor is out of the car on a stand.

    Heres an update. I got the earlier pan and it does not hit the oil pump. So I guess I have an earlier block. Anyway to check the oil pan/pump clearance. I do not hear it hitting anymore, but just for piece of mind.

    I bought the pan from the parts store. I think the pump may be an aftermarket. I am gonna try the other pan that they have. He said the pans fit 83-89 and then 90-95. He said the earlier ones are deeper. I'll start with that. Aftermarkert pumps do they fit under the normal pan?
