before you get your mind set on a 00-03 cobra engine, your first question should've been "will it fit?" i've never heard of anyone putting a 4.6 into a fox enginebay. seeing as though the body style changed i think it's really questionable if the engine would fit under the hood. if it fits get the 03 cobra

unless you're getting one dirt cheap, for the $$$ you're gonna spend on one of those you're better off building your own motor or buying a nasty long block.

i know it will fit cuz somone showed me a pic of a 90lx with the 03 cobra engine. new motor and tranny mounts will need to be fabricated. the 00 engines/tranny/exhaust/wiringharrnes/computer is 6k and the 03 set up is 10k. i dont mind the money, and i know i can get the DOHC to go faster there just way more expencive.

Yeah, it'll fit, and the DOHC motors are sweet, but for the money you're going to spend, you could build a hell of a pushrod motor. Damn, for 16k you could run 9s if you wanted too. If it were me, I'd leave the mod motors alone, because they're not for our cars. I'd build a big stroker, maybe with a blower, and be done. Also, there were no 2000 Cobras, other than the R, because SVT was too busy fixing the mess that was the 99 Cobra. Good luck in whatever you do.

I considered doing this to my car also, but decided against it.
For the cost of doing it correctly, and having a nice setup it is cheaper to buy a 96-98 Cobra. The resale on those cars right now is crap, so you can get them for cheap and have your motor, plus 5x the braking power, plus leather interior.
Im currently looking to buy a 96-03 Cobra with a mod motor. I think I am ready to go to a different body style and ditching pushrods.

If you want to talk to a guy who has done many of these and knows how to do it right. Call Lidio at Alternative Auto. Hes got a website with contact info, do a search on yahoo, should come up with info on his buisness.
