00 gt dies after start.

I have a problem that happens sometimes. I will turn the key to start the car and it sounds like it starts up, but it will then die. This morning it did it 3 times I waited a min. or two and then it started.

Any help would be great.

That is very strange, because I am having the same problem. Does your car have a tune in it or do you have a programmer, because mine has a diablo programmer and it seems to do it more often when you tune it differently. Please let me know something so we can both figure this out, because this has been tormenting me for about a year!!! Oh yeah does yours backfire through the exhaust sometimes too, let me know.

when i had a similar problem swapping out the IAC did the trick for me. was like 40$ at the auto store and took 5 min to swap out.

Check if the PATS light is flashing.

If it is the car is not reading the key properly. Mine has been doing it since new.

It is the IAC, for a temp fix tap it a few times with a long handled screwdriver...

Also check and make sure your MAF is connected good and tight.

Most likely your IAC is clogged with carbon build up. Remove it and spray it out with carb cleaner nice and neatly and air dry it and bolt it back up and see what that does for you...

hey my cars doin this too! tonight i couldnt get it to start! Im not too familiar (x 5.0 man) Can you guys please explain to me where the iac is..

Thanks for that tip. After a few taps, it started right up. I was able to get it to AutoZone and home to change the IAC. It was an easy process that took about 20 minutes total.

same thing happend when i forgot to reconnect my maf
