What is the difference in the 4.6 motors?

I know some are 2v,3v,4v.

What years and models go with which motors?

I am looking at a '00 GT and wanted to know how it stacked up to some of the newer mustang powerplants.

The 2000 Gt has a SOHC 4.6 V8. Stock its got 260 HP and like 290 TQ. 2000 has the old T-45 tranny though. Hope that helped

1996-1998 GTs SOHC 4.6L 2V (non-pi heads) less power due to heads rated at 215 for 96-97 and 225 for 98
1999-2004 GTs SOHC 4.6L 2V (PI heads) more power rated at 260 HP
2005+ GTs SOHC 4.6L 3V newest GT motor rated at 300HP

'96-'o4 cobras and the new mach 1's have the 4v (305-390hp)

A 2000 GT provided the motor is in good condition will give you a good bit of power and enough tourqe to throw you back in the seat. I enjoy mine.

cobras & mach1 = 4v
05+GT =3v
99-04 GT =PI 2v
96-98 GT =NPI 2v

our motors are dogs compared to 4v motors. if you're going to get serious with mods, save more and get a 4v motor, it'll be worth it in the end.
