Hi,
Yes another one of these... sorry if I'm repeating a post but couldn't find through search...

Not taking into account body style, hence performance wise:

Which would you choose if all are used and under 22k miles and approx the same price (within $2k)

Which is fastest (Mach 1 or 01 cobra??)? 0-60 and 1/4
Only Cobra has IRS right?

Keep in mind that the car will see no track time really and also will not be modded much except a few bolt ons. I know the 01 cobra has a lot of potential but it might not see a S/C or something like that.

Thanks guys

I would go with the cobra personally (and I did). The primary reason is I think the mach I is ugly (I hate that hood scoop, the stripe and the mismatched spoiler) and the IRS is really nice for a daily driver.

As far as performance I think the mach I ends up being a little faster (or the same) as the cobra. Not sure which responds to mods better although I suspect either would respond the same. I do remember reading that the mach I had a little more torque lower end so it launches a little harder.

Is there still some warranty left on the Mach I? Just something to consider.

And I agree... if you like (or can tolerate) the look of the Mach I, go that route.

Since you're not taking into account body style and care more about 0-60 and 1/4 mile, Mach1 is performance winner in this category. How can you argue 32v V8 with live rear axle and 3.55s out back??? Plain and simple Mach is the best performer outta the box in this group, stock of course.

Since some people argue about looks, my biggest gripe with the GT/Bullitt was teh fakemeout hood scoop (though I thought it looked awesome). How can anyone not like the shaker, shoot that's half the reason to buy the Mach alone, it just screams old school muscle car??

That being said I like all the models, the Bullitt for it's simple sleek lines and stance, the cobra for the round fog lights up front, and the Mach for the shaker and raised hood, nostalgic stripe kit with offsetting black color trim.

Mach 1/Cobra > Bullitt

The Mach 1 and 01 Cobra are really equally fast. Mach's have run low 13's stock, and 01 Cobra's have run low 13's stock (although that isn't the norm). The Bullitt is really quite far behind. I think the Cobra looks HOT! Better interior than the Mach IMO, and those seats!

Yea the mach is great and everything but ive been hearin some stories about blown engines and such so.. yea. Those could just be lemons though  . Still my vote goes 100%to the 01 slobra.. sure it might be a tenth or two slower stock but it has twice as much potential in the long run and IRS which is fifty times better ride on the street. Since ur not gonna be racing much i say 4V and IRS gets the :nice:

I'm not sure what's so different with the Cobra's interior, they all still have the basic SN95 materials and whatnot

Mach seats are pretty sweet as well, just as supportive as the 03 Cobra seats.

I have a friend with an 01 cobra and one with an 03 Mach...i say the mach...if you're not going to be doing many mods it is a faster car, plus i like the looks of the Mach more (the cobra seats are nice though)...and I'm a fan of the live rear axle

The Mach only here for 2 years and it's the first ones since 1978 and probally the last for quite sometime. The Cobra's been back since 1993. I like the LE Mach and LOVE the shaker, ride, brakes, and looks............. :nice:

I'm leaning towards the 01 Cobra because of IRS and street manners.
I don't mind a tad bit slower... as it will be faster than my 96GT anyways.

I'm in an impulsive mood so I'll have to think about it a bit before going ahead, thanks guys.

JOC, have you driven any of them??? If not I'd say go for some test drives, the Machs live rear axle is not as bad on the street as some people are leading on. Though it's a stiff ride, it's not punishing, the breaks are simply awesome while the torque makes the car a breeze to drive stop light to stop light and through traffic.
