I was wondering what your guys' thoughts were. The 01 Cobra has had 5 owners, so I'm pretty leary of that. The owner says its in like new condition and has 43k on it. The 07 is a single owner and has 34k on it. What would you guys do??

I'd say go with the 07 GT. If it was a 03/04 Termi, i would pick that over the 07 GT.

the first question that needs answering is where you want to go....build big hp or build a nice dd for later down the line?

For big hp down the road I'd say go with the cobra. The stock internals are a great base to start with and throwing a blower or TT setup solidifies its superior built block.

The 07 GT on the other hand can easily be complemented with all sorts of after market exterior designs and descent hp and mpg with blower setups for everyday driving. But internal work will be needed for beefing it up past the guy next to you with same mods.

Ask your self if you want a nice Street stang(07 GT my opinion) or a Street Beast(my opinion.. 01cobra)? and then look how to get there the easiest and best way.

this is just a cruiser pretty much. I would think the 07 it would be much faster than the old 98 GT I owned. What do you guys all think about for exhaust? I think the loudmouths sound kind of obnoxious, but it looks like they're a crowd favorite on this site. I had a Mac offroad pro chamber on the 98 GT with flowmaster 40's and was happy...

Flowmaster super 40's have that nice deep american muscle car sound.. its what i have on my car. Oh and a nice H-pipe would top it off, and do long tube headers.

the bassani catted x w/ flows on these models is a mean combo. I like the Magna flow catback sounds on them too.

You're thinking of the 03/04 Cobras, he is talking about an 01 (non-forged) Cobra...

5 owners on a car with 43k bothers me... I'd tell you to go Cobra, but it's probably been ridden hard and put up wet, or else it's a lemon. Not necessarily, but you never know. And they all "run good" until you find out otherwise, lol.

The 07 will be a much more refined car and still respond well to mods.

You can pick up axlebacks for pretty cheap on the s197 cars and they can be installed easily in a driveway.

whats so great about the internals of a cobra, the rods and pistons are still garbage, a 3v with cams, will make power till 6800 like a 4v with more low end.

go with the 07 the new cars are alot better imo.

I would say go with the styling/body style you prefer. But i would definitely be weary of that 5 owner cobra....

get an insurance quote before you make a decision.

after i sold my 95, i was in the market for a 96-98 cobra - until i got a insurance quote. my record is clean and i am over 25 but insurance on a 96 cobra was considerably more than a 2000 GT. you see which one i ended up with.

owning a 4v is a dream of mine but those 05+ cars are SOOOOOOO comfortable to drive and make really good power right out of the box

geez 5 owners in 9 years is alot. I bought my 03 and I am the 4rd owner...the 1st owner sold it after 2 years and 17k miles.

I love the 99-04 body style, but the 07's are still damn nice. I would say drive them both and see what you like better, after all its going to be your car. I looked at an 01 cobra and I loved it, but it sold before I could get the cash.

To me if you are deciding between an 01 and an 07 if they are around the same price, I would go newer and the 1 owner is a big plus. Most the time when someone buys a brand new car those people take care of their cars...the 01 cobra has low miles but I bet its been driven a lot harder than the 07. You have our opinions but in the end its your money, your car, get what you want and I am sure you would be happy with either.

I was just going to say that...

it's like asking what is better, chocolate or vanilla ice cream. some guys like the 99-04 styling much better than the 05-09, but it's a personal preference...

me, I'd normally take an 01 Cobra over a 07 GT any day, but 5 owners in 10 years is a bit scary

if they are the same price.. def. go with the 07. Resale for the 07 will be much more then the 01 cobra. and like others say.. the 3v responds very well to minor upgrades. But the 99-04 style are much smaller.. and feel more like a sports car to me instead of a big boat like the 07 would feel like. That's just personal preference. Drive both and go from there. On paper the 07 would be a better buy

The cobra makes 325hp the GT 300hp. The 01 Cobra should be lighter then the S197. When I bought my 01 GT in 05 three people owned it before me and it only had 33k on it. I havn't had any issues. Get what you like. The cobra should be faster out of the box. Both cars are nice.

Five owner car doesnt bother me. Five owner in a car with less than 50k? Either a lot of financially unstable owners got their grimy hands on it and couldnt afford it... or more than likely... something is up.

I love my SN95 platform car as much as the next guy, and I won't be able to let it go. Buuuut if I was in your position, I wouldnt think twice. 3V GT all the way.
