01' spare key question

I need a spare key for a 01 gt. Can any key maker make a key for this, or is this one of the vehicles that has the chip inside of the key? Thanks guys!

my 01 has a chip in the key. I'm pretty sure yours does as well. In which case you have to get one from the dealer i believe.

My 04 key doesnt say Ford on it .... it says "ilco" probably not the original.

Hey mine says that too. Weird. I need to get a spare, because the "ilco" key is the only one I have too. I think I was quoted something like 35$ for the key and $40 for the programming for a new one from Ford. In the meantime I had two non-chip keys cut that will at least unlock the doors if I lock mine in.....again.

Do yourself a favor and get a spare key. The last thing you need is to lose that one key and then have the car towed to the dealer and then have them cut a new key. I had a spare key cut and chipped by a local locksmith for $60. Check the dealer prices though.
