01 to 96 4.6 swap

What will need to be modified for the 96 gt to accept 01 gt 4.6. I bought a 96 roller I have not been able to find a reasonable 96 4.6. I have found two 2000's 4.6 on the cheap. Any help would be appreciated. Will the96 harness work on the newer engine.

Recommend using a 2003+ from a Mustang GT, Town Car, Grand Marquis, or Crown Vic. Why?

The 1996 comes with a Romeo non-PI long block.

The 1999-2000 Mustang came with a Windsor PI long block.

Sticking with a Romeo block will save you some issues.

Further using a block from a 2003+ will give the PI heads with more spark plug threads. These are not as likely to suffer a spark plug blow out.

Try searching www.car-part.com for some sample engine prices from salvage yards in your area.
