'02 baby seat installation

OK, I know some of you guys have kids. I'm adamant about bringing my son home in my Mustang on Wednesday. His first ride has to be in something cool. The problem is the baby seat I have leaves no room for the front seat passenger and it just doesn't seem to be made for the stang's backseat or lack thereof. Is there I mustang-specific seat I could use? Help me out here, because I'll be damned if my kid's first ride is going to be in a Hyundai.

Ok, as a mom I can help you out here. The seat you need is rear facing which does take up more room than the forward facing.
#1 Move the passanger seat all the way forward.
#2 Set the seat in the rear facing position in the back seat.
#3 Pull the seat belt out all the way(it should click as it retracts back into the housing).
#4 Push down as hard as you can on the car seat and buckle in. There should be no side to side movement.
#5 Move passanger seat to desired location and adjust the back of the seat to desired position. (Note seat will push up on the baby seat the further you have it moved back)

My child's first mustang ride was in a 1997 cobra.
Something you might want to invest in is a carseat mat. This will help keep your leather seats looking nice. They trap food, drinks, and keep the seat from getting cracks, dents, and dimples.

I have a baby seat in the back, there is no room in the passengers side. And i have the seat all the way up. My wife gets in the back.

Good tips.

I used a thick terry towel (bath towel) to protect the leather seats from getting indentations from the car seat/base as well.

To add, I believe his car will have the LATCH system as well, so if the seat has a snap-in base, that base can also be tethered this way, in addition to the seat belt.

I dug around back there and I don't think I've got the whole LATCH system. Think they started it in '02. Good thing my wife is 5'3...

Look in the owner's manual; it gives you directions on how to use a car seat. Depending on the model of the car seat and how old your child is your attachments and positioning will vary. On mine I use the anchors in between the seat and the back rest to face the seat to the rear in the middle of the back seat. This gives an average size passenger ample room. But seriously read the owner's manual for the car seat and your car (for the safety of your child).

I got 2 kids in the back of my stang, the only thing I don't like is I don't have has much room when I'm driving, but its not too bad, I'm still 6ft tall.
You'll be fine unless your taller than me.

Edit: If you have like a universal car seat(0-80lbs) I don't think its possible to make it fit unless you put it in the middle or find some space in the passenger. I use a baby seat and it fits just fine.
