I want to upgrade the brakes on my 02 convertible GT. It seems everything out there is front brake. Isn't there a 13" Cobra upgrade front and rear w/Brembo calipers (or red Brembo w/Cobra nomencature).
They do make rear brake upgrades but the ones that replace the whole caliper are very expensive. That and the rear brakes do not do that much of the work anyway.
You can get 13" rear brake upgrade for pretty cheap that includes rotors, brackets, and pads for like $300 but its pretty much a cosmetic mod rather than strickly performance.
Fronts are of course way more important. I have cobra rotors from Rotorpros.com slot/drill/zinc, will be getting bullitt calipers and stainless lines this winter and installing in the spring. The mach1 front kit (same as cobra/bullitt) is CHEAP. www.buyfordracing.com
The Cobra calipers are made by PBR and the rotors are made by Brembo.
Get one of the 13" kits from Buyfordracing.com and you won't be disappointed. Start with the fronts first and then decide if you really want to do the rears. The rear brake install involves pulling the axle shafts out

Might be a good time to install mod rear axles - no shortage of those. I don't want to have a mix - want everything to look pretty much the same. I was checking out www.americanmuscle.com and it looks like I could get close by doing the Rear Powdercoated Red Mustang calipers and bracket kit (comes w/blank OEM rotors) and adding the 10th Anniversary Cobra conversion kit... The rear calipers would be "Cobra spec" and they'd be red. All the rotors would be smooth. Not an exact match. If you go up to kits by Baer or Brembo it looks like a wheel change and some kind of rear mod would have to happen - not to mention the 2k$ + cost for those setups...
I'm having a real hard time with the idea that there aren't a lot of high-end direct bolt up front/rear upgrades for the 02 GT (et al). If the car was a Bullitt, a Mach I or a Cobra this would be no problema.
