A friend of mine just installed a C&L cold air kit with the 80mm mass air, 75mm tb, and the plenum. He also said that he installed the hypertech programer as well. He is having a problem with the car idling high at first about 1500rpm, and taking a long time to come down. He said it is doing it all the time after he installed these parts, with the car warm or cold, when he first starts it, to when he stops at at light. Did anyone else have this problem when they installed similar mods? Any info will help. Thanks.

Have you tried the copper cap trick?

I don't think he has tried that, how do you do that? I told him it is probably his IAC, but I guess it could also be a vaccum leak. Any more help would be great. Thanks

I remember reading that this has happened to a lot of people who install the Plenum/TB combo. It goes mostly away after driving it for a while (few weeks?). If you search on Plenum in the thread title, you probably find the threads that talk about this.

Yes it is common with installs of TB and Plenums

If you take a 1/2" copper cap drill a 1/4" hole in the end and insert it in the IAC line before the black box it will cure the throttle hang if you don't want to wait the few weeks..

I did it and haven't had any issues.
