Ok, I know there have been a ton of clutch issue threads, and I went through quite a bunch of them before giving up and making my own thread.

I have an '02 GT, when the car is off, it does not go into gear smoothly. When the car is on and the clutch pedal is pushed down, it will not go into gear.

I just put the engine back into the car and am sure that everything was lined up properly. I checked the clutch cable, underneath the car and it seems to be pulling as it should be.

The only reasons for the inability to engage the car into gear, that I can come up with are:. A) lack of fluid in the transmission(but i don't know if that would have an effect on the clutch). or B) The pressure plate could have frozen(rusted), while the car sat outside when the engine was not in it, but the transmission was.

Any help that could be offered to shed some light on my problem would be greatly appreciated.

ok the first thing i would check is the clutch cable.. a clutch that is not disengagind fully can make it really hard too shift into gear or you may not be able too at all. if you have the stock quad and cable you need too pull up on the pedal untill you can get the car into gear with it running.

a rule of thumb you can go by.. if the trans goes into gear with the car off but not when it's on then it's probally a clutch concern. ( not disengaging all the way) if the trans wont go into gear when the car is off then most likely internal trans problem..

Ok, I got underneath the car and checked the cable, by removed the shield. When the clutch pedal is pushed down the cable tightens and the arm moves just fine. It appears that it is not the cable.

It looks like i am gonna have to buy a new clutch...ugh more money to put into this darn thing. Thanks for the reply, if you have anymore advice its greatly appreciated.
