Roush 02 SALEEN EXTREME HELP

Need some help from the experts on these cars. Just bout an 02 Extreme, and wanted to make sure I'm not going crazy. There is a noise when I start the car up especially when its cold and it goes away. Sort of an injector noise or some sort of piston slapping. Can you tell me if this is usual for the extremes???

All extremes have a diesel sound to them. Some call it piston slop, some say it's just because of the aluminum heads and aluminum pistons. Whatever it is, it doesn't go away, at least not on my car. But I'd say what you're hearing is normal for the extremes.

Thanks for that information, yeah its definitely a sound I'm not used to but if its normal I wont worry. These cars are awesome but I would hate to see a repair bill if there was something wrong with the engine.

Like Extremesaleen mine sounds like a diesel at idle all the time, even after warm up.

People kind of look at it funny at stoplights like there is something wrong with it, that is until they get a good look at the center exhaust..........

I agree with everyone here. E cars sound different. And, each E car will sound a bit different from each other. Mine tends to "calm down" after a 5 minute warmup but still sounds grumbly. Even the local dummies at the Ford shop here said "it's gonna blow"...haha....that was 2500 miles ago.
I'm not really sold on the 5/50 oil sticker though. You guys? I'm thinking of dropping to 5/30 (Lucas) and some stabilizer. Mine has a very small leaking of oil around which I know is from the thinner synth oil. Anyone?

Mobil 1 synthetic 5-30 with synthetic filter is what we would put in the cars if we still serviced customers cars at Saleen.

I'm running 5/30 Royal Purple in mine with no problem. Seems to help with oil loss and/or consumption.

I have heard alot of bad things about Royal Purple but i can not think what they were at this moment.
