'02 Seat Buckle Signal Not Registering

I sit in my car, the buckle sight is on, but here is the problem. It STAYS ON after I Buckle up. And about once a minute IT chimes and reminds me to fasten my safety belt. This lasts for about 10 minutes.(the chiming) but the fasten seatbelt reminder stays on the entire time.
I read the owner's manual and noticed that there is a specific system to change that. Turn the car on, buckle 3x... Etc but it still doesn't work any help?

It sounds like the wire to the seat belt is disconnected. I don't have a manual in front of me but just the basics of the system are that having the seat belt buckled alters (opens or closes) a circuit, thus telling the car to turn the reminder off. I would start by checking around the receptacle base to see if there are any loose wires. It is tight in there so it might be worth it to pull the driver's seat.

Pull up the front seat?! I guess I can try. What am I looking for? Wires on the part under the seat where the belt is? What about the controls for the power seat? I know for sure it totally clicks in when I buckle in.

Yes, wires coming out of where you clip it in. Since it is on the console side of the seat it might be tough to get in there, or maybe there would be enough room if you move the seat all the way forward and raise it up. In other Fords of the time there are two wires that run into the seat belt and when buckled it closes the circuit. If you find the two wires you should be able to splice them together and it will think the seat belt is always buckled.

Or there may be something in the mechanism itslf. Get some contact cleaner and spray in there to see if you can clear it up.

I did this, and it was wonderful. I broke one of the wires under my seat, I guess it was the ground for the seatbelt. I just got under there, found the other wire, cut it, then spliced them together. Not another sound.

What's the wouldst that could happen if I get it wrong. Cause I do see the two wires

If it is the wires that goes to the buckle, nothing. The dinger is bypassed by connecting the wires, closing the loop. I don't know if there is a check for that on any inspection, but it just wouldn't show your seatbelt was NOT connected.

If, by chance, you got the wrong wires, then you might blow a fuse. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but it is the ground side of the loop that needs to be closed. Once grounded, the seatbelt light goes off.
