Your milage sounds nice to me, esp with the mix of driving you did. I dont do that well myself.
I would keep doing this to ensure that there was not some issue with a gas pump clicking off at different levels, etc. But it sounds good to me. And good luck with the sender issue.

You'll get a better read on the mileage if you can use up a full tank jaymac.

If the 18 is around town, not bad.

....and yes, O2 performance degrades from day 1 when they are brand new. People see a lot of variation in life - but a good rule of thumb is to replace O2's at 50K-60K intervals with plugs and wires. How much will they impact mileage? Impossible to say.

And calculating fuel mileage by using the gauge as a measure of fuel used is about as accurate as just guessing at the mileage. Even variation between pumps and how full you get the tank each time causes inaccuracies. Always filling it at the same pump, and looking at several tanks is the best way to zero in on an accurate average.

As is, it would be a little dangerous to use up a full tank, as w/ a broken gauge, I may ver well break down on the side of the road.
Should I just keep a gal. of gas in the car and run 'er dry??

I would not do that. The bottom of the tank has a bunch of sediment. Plus running that stuff through the pump is not too great for it. Add to that, running out of gas is hard on the pump (gas is the lubricant and has a cooling effect), and I wouldnt. I try not to ever go below 1/4 tank, and generally under 1/2.

I would get a feel for the worst milage you get at this point. Say that is 15 MPG. Then at 150 miles travelled, you have a guess that you are down to ~1/3 tank. For me, both stang gauges I have are inaccurate, so I do it this way (Michael and I are used to this method from crotchrocket days).

Good luck bud.

i replaced my 02 sensors a month or so ago. im getting a code 42 & 92 saying im rich. i hooked a volt meter to the 02s to monitor what theyre reading. mine go between .1 but they sometimes go well over .9. At start up they start in the 4.5 range and depending on if i let it idle or start driving it starts to drop at different rates. very slowly at idle, faster if i start driving. Anyways when warm it still goes above .9v. Im guessing this is why im running rrich or at least its reading me running rich?
