Me and my friend been racing, i have 04 GT and he has 03 but it has that 100 badge thing? Leather seats, cd changer stuff, real nice. Well we raced few times and i beat him everytime. I am still stock but he got tri ax shifter and bassani exhaust, we raced again and i beat him from dead stop and from roll. So i drove his car and he drove mine and he beat me in my car so it not driver. What could it be? why is his so much slower because he drives it same as me so ECU set basically same as me? any suggestions because i feel really bad for him becasue no reason i should be killin him so bad... Any ideas or suggestions to fix it would be appreciated.

my friend has an '04 (granted it's auto), but he had prochamber, flows, chip and tune, cai, and 3.73's, and from a stop, i took him every time. from a roll, he takes me. so i'm kinda wondering that as well.

what if me and my friend both switched out and got 373 gears? would that fix his problem? or would it still be same situation? and i still put that extra bit

The '04s have the exact same gears as the '03, there were never 3.55s in any '04 GT.

Look at the options, his car just may weigh more. My '04 put down the numbers in my sig bone stock at 1200miles. Those are at the upper end of what we see stock, so I doubt there is a power deficiency in the '04s

I have a stock 04. Several people have already asked me if I lowered it. Nope. Stock height that seems lower than 99-03s. Anyone else see this?

Some cars are just faster from the factory. No two cars are going to put down the same numbers. Theres nothing wrong with the car, yours probably is putting a few more ponies down. A shifter and exhaust will not give you a significant advantage. And if he has the Mach1000 sound system, that adds over 100lbs to the car on top of the leather etc. that his had that yours doesnt.

Hit the track and see just how much of a diffrence there really is in times. The gears are the same. I just got my new best last night with my 03 Vert. with mach 1000 on board. 13.945@100 mph so 03's aren't that bad .

Not trying to hi jack here, but this question does sort of fit here. What color injectors do the 04's come with? I am just wondering because the 03's came with pink injectors (which no one can get a straight answer on wether they are 19 lbs. or 21 lbs.) A couple mustang tuners shops I have gone to have pointed (and I have also noticed) out that the 03's seem to idle rougher (like they have a miss) than other year Mustangs. I wonder if the 03's came with 21 lbs. injectors with a tune for 19 lbs. injectors. I may be reaching here, but no one seems to have a good reason for why the 03's idle worse than other stangs. If any one here has an 03 that idles well with the stock tune I would like to know. Also, check and see what color your injectors are.

my '04 has the pink injectors too. I got grief from my best friend about it when I took her to pick up the car. She called my engine "cute"

This may also be why

SSM 16619 2002-2003 MUSTANG GT TR3650 MANUAL TRANSMISSION - ROUGH IDLE SPEED OR RPM DIPS DURING IDLE
SOME 2002-2003 MUSTANG GT VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A TR3650 MANUAL TRANSMISSION, MAY EXHIBIT A ROUGH ENGINE IDLE OR RPM DIP DURING IDLE CONDITION. THIS MAY BE CAUSED BY THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM). TO SERVICE, REPROGRAM THE PCM WITH THE LATEST CALIBRATION

Pink Injectors here.

Idles nice and smooth. I still have the stock exhaust on it so sometimes when i'm in the car on the phone parked, i forget it's even running.
