Ok guys. Obviously I am new to the site. I am hoping to gain a lot of info bout my baby here.

Question:

I know a lot of 03/04 cobra owners have added nitros. I havn't really heard anything about the ZEX system. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

My Virgin 03:

Bassani X no cats
Borla exhaust
UPR CAI
Maximum Motorsports coil over front and rear with bilsteins
Nitto drag radials

Future additions:
Blower pulley
Diablo chip
Apten ported SC....is it worth it?
Eventually maybe go with a Whipple or Blowzilla when funds are available

So, the ZEX system is available for under 700.00 Should I? Shouldn't I? WHY??? :bang:

I look forward to being a member of this site....Catch up with ya'll later!

Why by the Zex for $700 when you can get the Edelbrock system for $579.00? http://shop.store.yahoo.com/hm-performance/edefidrynisy1.html

Skip the chip and go with either a Diablosport Predator or the SCT handheld tuners. Chips are yesterdays technology! Flashing your ECM is where it's at these days!

Forget the Apten port while your at it and go for the one and only, original port from Stiegemeier! http://www.stiegemeier.com/index1.html

I have an adjustable Zex kit from my 99 GT for sale if you are intrested.

I have a few friend who use nitrous with a blower. The nitrous obviously adds power, but it also cools the inlet temp of the air the motor breaths, which can actually help prevent detonation. Whatever nitrous kit you go with make sure you get it dyno tuned !!!

Thanks For The Advice Guys. I Found A Dry Zex System At My Local Shop For $550.00. Uncle Meat, I Would Definately Go With The Flash Tuner, Do Those Systems Come With A Chip, Or Does It Program The Stock Computer. Also, I Would Prefer A Tune That Would Be Similar To Daily Driving With The Bolt On's I Have. I Would Just Use The Nitrous On Occasion...a Blast Down My Local Bypass Or To Crush A Vette Or Some Stupid Bling Bling Fast And Furious Wet Fart Sounding Import....and Obviously At The Track. I Was Reading About Ignition Retard For The Nitrous. That Is Obviously A Must And The Amount Is Dependent On The Size Of The Shot You Are Using. This Brings Up Another Question. I Know Nothing About These Modular Motors. I Am A Converted Small Block Chevy Push Rod Motor Guy. I Could Build One In My Sleep. I Would Assume That The Timing Would Be A Manual Adjustment. So From A Stock 23 Deg To 20 For A 150 Hp Shot, Would This Timing Retard Be A Problem For The Motor In Daily Driving Conditions. Thanks For Your Input Guys....catch Up With Ya Later.

The hot set up for a nitrous car is a flip chip. One program has an N/A tune with timing advanced for maximum performance. The second program will have the timing retarded for using the bottle. If you intend on using the nitrous on the street then a flip chip like a Diablo may be your best bet. With the hand held tuners you have to upload the different programs which takes time. With other flip chips you have to turn the car off, then switch programs then start the car agian. With Diablo you can switch programs on the fly, I think AutoLogic has the same feature.

I agree, if you really just have to have N2O on your car, go with a flip chip. The handheld tuners re-flash your cars ECM and switching back and forth between an N2O tune and a standard street tune would be a pain with a handheld type tuner.

Better yet, forget about the N2O and just get yourself a smaller SC pulley? That will give you the power to beat most street vette's unless they too are heavily modified. Adding a smaller SC pulley is way cheaper than the N2O and the power is always there when you need it, no filling of bottles...

As for the timing on your motor, it's all done in the tune man!

Yeah I was up reading last nite about the timing thing....how sweet is technology these days. I was also looking at the diablo and autologic flip chip. That's definately the way to go. There is a street perf shop right up the street with all the goodies....dyno and stuff. They actually had a feature in 5.0 about the cobra. I cannot remember the issue off hand but is was about swapping out the valve train for a jessel system. The shop is called Second Street Speed in Perkasie, Pa. They are a Diablo dealer.

Also, I do plan on the pulley swap...probably just a 4psi. I wanted to do that before the flip chip installation.

So, rwhp projections? I figure before the juice 470. I do have the UPR cai and bassani X no cats with the borla stinger exhaust.

Thanks guys....much appreciated!!!!
