Okay, I bought the louvers for the hood but won't rain still get in the holes when I'm driving? I'm so confused on this...is there something I need to do to protect my engine from rain with this hood?

PLEASE EDGIMICATE ME!

Hahah everyone wants one but no one can school me on the functionality of the louvers? From what I can grasp, it seems the louvers only let air out and not much water in.

Anyone?

The vents do let heat out and you can see the heat escaping out when the engine is hot. a lot of people remove the flaps so more heat can escape. The water that gets in falls between the motor and radiator.

The vent is actually a heat extractor. When sitting still you will see some heat escaping through the vent, but when the car is in motion the vent design creates a low pressure area which actually helps suck air out from under the hood.

Did the vents come with the lower plastic flap attached? Personally I removed the plastic rain flap because it allows for more heat to escape the engine compartment. Then again I don't ever drive my car in the rain so it's not a problem for me.

Even if the rain flaps are left in the stock position rain can still enter the engine compartment, in fact on a stock 03/04 with the flaps in their stock configuration rain actually gets channeled between the hood blanket and the bottom of the hood and eventually discolors the hood blanket.

When the flaps are removed or pinned back the majority of rain or car wash water drips straight through the vent between the radiator & motor. Some does hit the coolant reservoir.

Doug from Billetflow actually makes anodized billet replacement louvers if you're interested in adding a little more "Bling" to your '03 hood...

It's a fairly new item and not reflected on their website. You can always email him and ask about the availablility.

Are there any other hoods out there that "extract heat" ? I love the 03/04 cobra hood but I don't think it would look right on my car. The KB makes for 1 hot engine bay & I'd like to let some of that heat escape.

SALEEN offers one.
Although the GT owners I've seen with an 03/04 hood love it.
