Well, its finally complete. These were my steps to complete the job.
1. 2 Hillman Nylon hole plugs for the exposed holes, silver paint touch up paint, and a clear coat

2. Wiring Harness (you need a new one, running from the left panel inside the trunk, to the spoiler because it is run by LCD, not bulbs). There are about 5 clips/plugs with lights etc.

3. After the spoiler has been painted etc., I used double sided tape as shown below, to try and keep water from getting under the spoiler.

4. Line up the spoiler, make marks with a sharpie, and drill the holes (on 2001+ GT trunks, 2 of the original holes are used).

5. Throw it on and connect the brake light once the wiring harness is all set.

I had mine painted because it was originally shadow gray (got it off classifieds).. The paint shop repaired and painted my front bumper since it was damaged in a small accident. And since I was in a painting theme this month, i went ahead an painted the front grille horse flat black.

Let me know any questions

Looks awesome. I think the 03 Cobra spoiler is the best looking.

Now you gotta drop that thing.

Looks great though

I think it looks a bit distended, I uess I would like it more if it were flush with the paint instead of obviously bolted on...

Well that would be some serious body work, and, IMO, that would look wrong. What he's done here is add the OEM Cobra spoiler to his GT...and I think it looks great.

Don't mean to bring this back from the dead, but GREAT writeup! Looks awesome!

The whole cost ya around what? $350 for the spoiler, $89 for the light housing, and $250 painted? So like $700? Looks great. I love the 03 spoiler and wish I had $700 for a cosmetic right about now.

$140 shipped spoiler (classifieds)
$225 Paint
$90 LED 3rd Brake light

=$455 - $75 (selling OEM spoiler) = $380

It was worth it to have a car thats different.

Not to bring thread back from the dead.. but..

Did you have to get a new harness to plug the LED brake light into the GT brakelight harness?

I heard you had to, but wasn't sure

I've got an 03 Cobra spoiler sitting in my bedroom floor and that is one thing i'm wondering about before I install it... Oh yeah, I got the spoiler for $50

Edit:.. Ummm.. nevermind, I went back and re-read it.. My bad!

Any pics from inside the trunk? I'm getting an 03 cobra spoiler tomorrow and want to install it ASAP. Also, how did you get the old spoiler sticky ring off the car?
