'03 Cobra to '04 GT engine swap

Has anyone ever tried to take the engine out of a '03 Cobra and drop it in a '04 GT? Just wondering. I suppose you would have to (want to) take the tranny with ya.... what else? Are the wiring & everything else similar?

03 Cobra engine is $10,000. if u have the money, do it!! ive seen ppl with an 03 cobra engine in a Mach be4, so it is definetly possible. i would take the engine, tranny, fuel tank and system, wiring harness, computer and gauge cluster.

the driveshaft will have to be shortened as well, when you switch to the new tranny

If i put that motor in my car i would have been running low 12s stock, high 11s with tires.

O yea you just might need the motor, and fuel system. Your computer should run it fine with a tune. I'm assuming though.

I know for a fact that this has been done before. When I was getting my exhaust put on some guy pulled up in a GT. Well he pulled in and was getting his car looked at...well the guy that ownes the shop hopped in his car to back it in and he couldn't find reverse. The guy (22)? was like its a 6-spd so craig, the shop owner was like ok. Well after backing it in he then opened the hood, and ill be damned if a 03 cobra engine was sitting right there. I was like Damn. Thing was bad-ass. Didnt really get to talk to him that much but if you have specific questions I'm sure I could get in touch with him, Craig would have his number. Let me know.

I will probably be doing this after my engine get around 150K on it...either that or a buidup with 4V heads on the stock block but with 10 to 1 compression and the heads fully ported.Anyone with more info, like if the stock GT CPU can just be reflashed to handle the cobra engine.Heck I would just leave the stock trans in,the T56 would cost $2500 or so.
