Fock no. It's my squeaky chit box and it turns heads every time it burbles it's way into a parking lot.

It's only an inch or two. What's the big deal?

Ok. Well when you need someone to take it off your hands, I'll give it a good home. I run south Texas chit box rescue, in case you missed it.

I saw a thread about that. Had a purdy pink truck in the back ground.
My cars finally coming around. I need to update my build thread.

My coyote dynoed at a little over 370rwhp bone stock. In 2012 it was rated at 412 HP. A tune alone gets you 20-30 more and you easily break 400 with a few boltons. You are right in the sense that stock engines did not show 400 rwhp, but it didn't take much to get there.

There are pros and cons to both choices which have been highlighted by everyone else already. I still think the coyote is the better option...if you've got the money of course. Personally, I had that engine for a few years and I can't see myself going away from a pushrod in my fox now. Maybe it's just the nostalgia factor or the fact that I think they are just easier to work on.

The 03 cobra you slap a $75 pulley on it with a tune and you are making 485rwhp and 500ftlbs (literally).

I think you're being a way optimistic with that estimate.

A pulley and tune will get you into the 420-430rwhp/450rwtq range, but you aren't getting anywhere near 485rwhp/500rwtq without a very, very small blower pulley (which requires a complete front pulley kit to keep the belt from slipping) and/or an overdrive lower crank pulley kit that'll allow you to spin the blower faster, while maintaining the full diameter blower pulley. Both options are considerably more than $75.

You'll also need a host of both intake and exhaust upgrades....and quite likely even a MAF extender.

At that point, you're reaching the upper limits of both the stock Eaton M112 as well as the stock fuel system.

You might and I stress MIGHT (after all those mods) get to the 485rwhp mark on the dyno, with sufficient cool down time and a little C12 in the tank, but there's no way you could sustain those power levels on the street. In the real world, I bet that Cobra drops 30rwhp on a hot lap. Fuel system upgrades and a blower port had better be in the cards soon.

For what it's worth, I'm seeing a lot more '11-'14 GT's getting into the low-11's/high-10's, with less money and drama involved than I'm seeing '03-'04 Cobras.

I'm not going to change out my pushrod, but the coyote architecture is the future for mods.
So, if money isn't a problem, go coyote. FRPP is selling complete cobra jet engines if money isn't a problem AND I would love to see a build on that! Anyone else with me on that one?
Oh yeah, might need to be a couple of mods on the rest of the car for that one.

While I'm with you on how cool that would be...now we're talking big $$. But you would have a fairly sedate motor capable of 8sec timeslips and it would be unique.

Just so you know, the numbers I quoted are mine, literally.
And those numbers were made after a good 10 pulls of tuning on the dyno in the middle of the summer.
I did leave out the maf extender, although I used an SCT meter, also bought for $75 (right place at the right time).
The pulley I have is a 2.76 (maybe 2.75, been a while) from reichard racing, courtesy of svt performance $75 shipped.
The exhaust I have is the same exhaust I ran with a pushrod engine pretty much just connected to stock 03 cobra headers. I did swap out my bassani x pipe for a 96 bassani x pipe to make it fit.
Nothing special about my numbers either, some people come in a little lower like 465rwhp, some in higher at 500rwhp.

Stock M50 coyote, stock air intake with box cut out and cone filter, bbk LT. T56 magnum
4:10 rear, 400 Rwp and 374 TQ. On a 95 degree day - That's what my builder and tuner gave me- believe or not don't matter to me, I'll try and post up my dyno sheet later today

Very comparable to a well built 302 stroker or h/c/i 351. @89oem nice dyno sheet! And you should post more pictures of your car!

For a nice day driver, that may occasionally see a track, I'd go coyote over a Windsor motor. Still would rather have one over a cobra 4.6 also.

Now a track car...hard to argue with cubic inches and a power adder.

The coyote is just so far advanced over the old dohc stuff. In 1999, I was bench racing a friend over cobras vs camaros. My comment then was that Ford would have to supercharge the dohc 4.6 to get much more out of it. Little did I know that was right on the money.

The terminators have their own bragging rights, but it is becoming old technology now. The coyote would get my vote all day long.

Is it wider?

I know they're both kind of a tight fit in a fox. but totally doable with the 4.6L spec K-member

So is that your way of saying you kind of agree with me?

Your car has intake mods (I'm seeing a big volume intake and open element filter on there on top of the SCT meter....not exactly the stock, restrictive intake found on the original '03-'04 Cobra. You've admitted to cat back and mid pipe exhaust mods. I'm also seeing an oversized aluminum coolant tank on there....that's gotta help some with keeping the blower coolant temps down. Can I assume you've got a better than stock heat exchanger on there as well? While I will concede that the Reichard Racing pulley most certainly helps with the belt slip, I see that it also required at least one oversized idler on there as well? While I don't doubt you got a good deal on the pulley, Reichard Racing has their blower pulley and idler advertised for almost $250 now. From what I remember, he Reichard pulleys are a little hard on blower belts too?

I'd be curious to see how far from the ragged edge your stock fuel system was taxed at those levels and what your blower temps were?

Again, I don't doubt at all your car made the power is did, but it was done with considerably more parts than just a pulley and a tune as stated in your original post. You've probably got $1,500 worth of additional parts on that thing if bought new.

That same amount of money spent on mods for a Coyote will more than cover the cost of intake/exhaust/tune with money to spare and get you well over the 400-410rwhp mark. Still not as much as the Cobra, no doubt.....but when you consider it's being done without the use of a supercharger, its pretty impressive none the less.

I honestly forgot where I was going with this......
