If you can afford it get one. They are awesome cars.. But be prepared for rediculous insurance costs (atleast in my state)

i don't much care for 03 cobra's. and i would not throw a bunch of money in your 94/95(i know, pot calling the kettle black).

i personally would rather have a 99/00 corvette fixed roof coupe. same price, less weight, engine responds to mods very well, better brakes, better handling, better interior, better looks(ask the women), etc...... all in all a better car for the same money.

IF you can get a hardtop vette cheaper, thats what I would go with.

as far as im concerned, the 03 cobra can only be compared to a vette if you are comparong performance numbers. otherwise they are both in a totally different class.

You have a chance at buying a TERMINATOR mustang???!?! The 03 and 04 cobras put down what, 400 hp? I know with simple bolt ons you can get them to 600 hp. Right now people are debating on whether the terminators are gonna outperform the shelby gt500 coming out

Anyways, if you can get the 03 cobra for a good price do it up

I agree with hazedrake. The '03 '04 Cobras def. are Badass, they truly made more like 410-415 horsepower bone stock, not 390 like Ford claimed. Vettes are nice for sure, but a stock c5 will likely cost more than a terminator cobra, wont be any faster, and obviously, its not a mustang!

just 2 examples. 03 cobras have there place and deff impacted the modern day muscle car scene. however it is not the end all be all and there are better cars out there for the price. hell we just sold an 02 ZO6 for $28k--had 11k miles.

if you can score the late, late 04 cobra models with the "AZML" computer, you are looking at a STOCK, 404rwhp. ive PERSONALLY dynoed 3 of them a bit over a year ago.

after some thinking, if you have the money go with the cobra. I see way more vettes (not hardtops) than cobras. Other than being alittle heavy, the cobra is bad.

Honestly, I think I would buy a 02+ zo6(or whatever year they got the hp boost before the new uber 427 one) before a 03-04. I already have a mustang and as much as I want a 03-04 (preatty bad) I like those year zo6's dare I say it more than the new one.

I agree 110% the vett. is not the same type of car to compare. Its like comparing a F18 fighter jet to the concord they both get you there and quick...but the other is more all business.

For the money I could also be labled a trader, Vettes are sick plus they have a better balance, better build quality (interiors are ugly in either-guys dont lie to yourselves-they are ugly) but a Vette is more of what I want which is a g-machine out of the box. Ben you and I are on the same page.

Face it the Mustangs suspension is only good for straight lines and even with that the rear suspension cant compare with a Vette. We have to deal with body rust, Vettes are made of fiberglass-a big plus if you love on the water like myself. If I wanted to make my car a g-machine i would have to spend lots to get the suspension complient enough to turn left/right while an older model vette is pretty much ready to go.

But I stand by my decision, I have a street cruiser thats fast sounds sick looks great and is very economical (when things break which is too friggin often). Mustangs are very potent street cars and I am happy to have mine.

yes, you have to respect vettes for what they are, an economical racecar( especially z06's)... but they are still the car that every grey-haired balding guy buys for his middle-aged crisis... even a lot of the guys that know nothing about cars think vettes are badass so they buy them. I dont mean to offend anyone here, especially the older guys (most of em are the $hit on this board especially) but the cobra means something to own it, even if it isnt the g-machine z06 vettes are. even modding your sn95 into a sick car is much cooler to see on the street than another run-of-the-mill z06. a car like that (sn-95 done nicely) or the rare cobra would have much more pride in ownership than a vette to me. if you are gonna race the car on a road course, the vette is the way ot go out of the box, but most guys arent gonna push their car to the limit and risk wrecking every day (or ever for many of us) so i'd say go for the cobra, which has attitude, looks agressive, (the interior is undoubtably cooler and most reviews said the fit and finish of the cobra was nicer than the vettes in a few articles ive read from one of those road&track mag's... contrary to what was said earlier) is rare, sounds AWESOME, is edgy, and the most important thing- its a FORD!
