My wife's 2003 V6 Mustang started getting a hum/electric "whine" through the speakers that seems to correspond to the engine RPM. It's a factory Mach 6-disc changer and from what I understand, factory speakers (we haven't changed 'em out since we bought it with 30k miles on it).

Any thoughts on what this could be?

Thanks!

It's most likely a bad noise suppression capacitor. It's basically a small capacitor connected between ground and the coil pack power wire and is usually attached to the side of the coil pack itself. It is used to filter out high voltage EMI produced by coil pack spark.Either the suppressor is faulty,or it may just be disconnected.
