04 Cobra for a DD

Hey guys I think I'm going to pick up a 04 Cobra and sell my 01 GT. How are these cars for every day driving?

Is there anything I should look at when I look to buy? Any advice is appreciated.

My 03 is a DD, its fun because it passes everything (except a gas station)

What kind of gas mileage do you get? What about when the roads are wet? does the car lose traction going around corners when your not expecting it and slide sideways?

I can get upwards of 25.5MPG on all highway trips if I drive it like there's an eggshell under the gas pedal. Just driving it around in mixed city/hwy I get approximately 17MPG.

I'm still running the stock pulley and for mods I have a CAI and full exhaust.

The traction control does a somewhat reasonable job of handling slippery roads, but it's nothing you want to depend on! If it's wet out you just have to use a little restraint and not jump on the loud pedal.

My car is stock, I get 8mpg in the city.

Traction has a lot to do with the tires you choose.

Kilgore, you seriously only get 8mpg? Are you always punching it? I hope so.

I get 8 sometimes it pisses me off. I do drive it like I stole it but still... I filled it up yesterday its already less than 3/4 full and I just drove across town a couple times...

I think it needs a custom tune or new o2 sensors cause I have changed out everything like plugs, fuel filter, etc...

You know these cars are pig rich from the factory so maybe a little tuning to lean her out may actually help your MPG some. Even when I drive mine like I stole it I've never recorded less than 12MPG, even on TRACK OUTINGS! I've got average MPG ratings logged for every fill up I've ever made on the car since new.

Yeah, I seriously think something is wrong that can be corrected to improve mileage.

It depends on where you are located. I would not recommend one in snow! GL

Yeah no kidding about that. My GT is horrible in the snow, I have a 4 wheel drive truck for that stuff.

Tires make all the difference in snow. Choose the right tires and you will be fine in the snow.

The service manager at my work daily drove his 04 cobra even in the snow and now he drives his gt-500 daily including snow. All he does is put good snow tires on and it seems to do ok.

Yeah I believe that, I've gotten caught in a snow storm a couple of times with the GT and it has 18 inch rims and BFG KDW's. It didn't to to good at all.

I'm going to go drive a yellow 04 Cobra tomorrow, I haven't even driven one yet. I want a black one though so I'm not going to buy it.

Yeah thats what I'm afraid of. I ended up not even having a chance to go see it, I'm still on the look out for a black 04 or 03.
