My buddy has an 05 or 06 mustang shaker 500 6 disc in dash head unit he is willing to let me put in my 05 Fi50. They are the same size but are the hook ups the same and will it work? I have the standard stereo in the truck not the audophile.

No, the shaker systems use seperate external amps to drive the speakers. I don't think that the shaker system could easily be adapted to replace a standard stereo.

the tabs that bolt the head unit to the dash board are probably different to they are in the same spots but they will most likely be deeper on the unit

Well I installed it. It appears to work with the exception of the dimmer. Now to figure how to hook in a sub.

Thats cool that it works...not a bad stereo for free

Did your truck already have amps then?

I was looking at putting an Alpine head unit in my Muatang with a shaker 500 and I was gonna' have to buy some adapters to make it work with the stock amps (or at least thats what I was told). I need to get a copy of the FSM for my car. I'm use to knowing my vehicles inside and out (especially the wiring), and there is so much to learn on these.....

I did not have any amps in the truck just the standard stereo. As far as I can tell the amps you need the adapter for are the integrated subs/amps the shaker uses. The normal 4 stereo speakers are powered fro the head unit. I can tell that it is designed for subs from the sound though.
