Ok so I have a buddy that gave me his blown 4.6 out of his 06 mustang. And I thought as a project that I would rebuild it to not only learn more about my mustangs me and the wifey have two together. But also get the satisfaction of doing the work on my car myself! My plan is to strip it down to the block and stroke it out to a 5.0 and forged it out to eventually add a turbo charger that I already had for the motor I currently have in my car. But after doing my research adding the turbo to the current engine in the car I couldn't go above about 466hp to be on the safe side of not blowing the original motor. I'm just looking for help/advise from anyone that has done this and suggestions on which aftermarket parts to use.

There are a host of parts that can be used from various rod crank and piston manufacturers, inc stroker kits. If you want to put the short block together yourself is great project however if you're going to have a machine shop put the block together may I suggest an Aluminator. The stroker kit cost plus the shop to machine the block and assembly will be far more then a complete block. These blocks will hold 750HP at the crank, the only other thing you'll need is an 8 bolt fly wheel.

FRPP Alumunator for SC 3V

no this would be a project and the only thing a shop would touch is the machining!

I guess the great thing about mustangs is how many different aftermarket parts you can get. Are you planning on sticking with a certain brand or deciding whats best for your car in regards to each individual part. I plan on doing the same thing youre doing but my car still has a while to go before it blows.

Keep in touch dude, I really want to know how it goes. Maybe you can give us a play by play in a video or something. could be a good learning tool for others who are still learning....Like Me.

Are you doing anything as far as body work. any chance you want the car to look more retro or modern sports car?
