Each time I turn or go up a driveway my car makes a clanking sound and it sounds like its the sway bar that's making it ? before I lowered my car it made the clanking noise but now as much and not as loud. Once I lowered it, it started making it everyday and it just got way louder!! someone help!!

I had a similar problem on my 07 GT. The dealer replaced the upper strut mounts, I think. Then, the lower control arm bushings started to fail (on a 3 year old car)...also a known problem. I was out of warranty but they gave me a "discounted" price to replace them. The front suspension is a bit janky on the "early" s197.

Oh really ? And was it still making the clanking afterwards?
The dealer replaced the lower control arms and the bushings on mine but its still making the sound. They didnt replace the upper strut tower on mine just the bottom arms.
Did you lower your car too?

I had that infamous "clunk", too. A local shop just replaced upper strut-mounts, struts, outer tie-rod ends, link-kits and LCA's with ball-joints, plus the sway-bar bushings. Most everything was toast. Rubber-parts were literally cooked and brittle and compressed terribly. The old girl has 75,000-miles on her. She sounds and rides like a new car now! We were first going to do just sway-bar-bushings and link-kits. It was when they took her to the alignment-shop that the other parts were found worn, when they tried aligning her. Such is life.

I drive her like I stole her.............

The clunk on my '06 turned out to be the front control arms.

The total bill for all of this came to $1450. The local shop is a member of the local MCA chapter, so he cuts a labor-cost break. He drives a 2007 Shelby Mustang.
